Is that how you learned? I've tried learning it that way but it didn't go so well. But eveyone's different. Some people might have an easier time learning that way, while others may find it best just to train 2-handed until they're strong enough to do it one-handed.
You will never be strong enough to do one arm by doing 2 arm.
