I'm starting to see this fight everywhere, I saw some people on a really popular music board I frequent talking about 50 Cent being on 24/7. I saw the commercials on ESPN last night, then about 15 of my friends who don't even follow boxing have asked me if I was watching the fight since Monday. Haha, I almost took it as an insult since I'm the one that follows boxing. If I'm seeing this, I'm sure everyone else on here is seeing the same things about friends asking about the fight. I'm really happy to see boxing going mainstream again even though it might just be for one fight.

I'd also just like to add that while the fight really does sell it self, Floyd's doing an amazing job of selling this fight. People tend to get caught up in all the hype and believe that these boxers are exactly like what they see on TV but it's all promotion. Floyd's talking a big game, while Oscar sits back and says wait and see. This is what had to happen. Because let's face it, outside of Oscar's amazing story and boxing history, he's really not that interesting. This fight would have done a million buys based off of the fighters but Floyd's antics have truly hyped this fight into the stratusphere. For god sakes, 24/7 showed Oscar making coffee, watching the Masters, and playing with his dogs. That's fine and dandy but people tune in to see something interesting, Floyd brought in 50 Cent, they aired footage of Roger's court proceedings, they showed some of the strife in the camp between Roger and Floyd Sr. While De La Hoya's sitting back taking his paycheck, Floyd's doing everything possible to truly get people to tune into the fight, he's earning his paycheck. Floyd was exactly right, this is a megafight, and you just can't have two good guys in this day and age. It wasn't too long ago when Floyd played the good guy role and promoted the Judah fight himself when Judah didn't cooperate at all and didn't help promote. So I'm hearing all this hate on Floyd on this board and while Floyd can lay it on pretty thick at times, the guy is talent in and outside of the ring and should be applauded and appreciated. But then again the people hating on Floyd are probably buying in to the hype of the fight, so I guess it works out.

With all that being said. People have to start realizing that at the end of the day, elite boxers like this will never get out of their gameplan. All this talk about Floyd standing toe to toe and Oscar banging is bullshit. These guys are the elite in boxing and they will use what has both got them there, which is amazing boxing ability and technical prowess. Oscar says that he's gonna rough Floyd up and use pressure, but in almost every fight of his, he's been the counterpuncher, he's been the one moving back. Even against smaller guys like Quartey, Oscar counterpunched his way to victories. People who think that Oscar is gonna make this a rough fight and come forward are blowing smoke up their own a** because Oscar knows that this would just provide more opportunities for Floyd to counterpunch. This is why I'm getting so fed up with all this ridiculous talk like Oscar is a banger that goes balls to the wall and will sit in the pocket and make an exciting fight. Does anyone not remember Oscar running for dear life against Trinidad in a fight where everyone felt ripped off because ODLH only fought 8 rounds? All these morons are acting like Floyd runs but ODLH is the track star. Oscar is a smart boxer and has been his whole career. Floyd is the same way, but what people don't mention about Floyd is his penchant to sit in the pocket and fight.

I think that the fight will be a great fight that will live up to the hype for boxing fans and probably not live up to it for fairweather fans that are expecting a blood bath. I think that Oscar knows that he's in over his head because if you've been listening closely to what ODLH has been saying this entire promotion, you can tell. He's basically been telling you for months. Whenever he's asked about the fight he basically says "I'm going to do my best to make a rough fight, if Floyd doesn't want to fight then it's not my fault." Let me translate this for you, "If Floyd doesn't come out of his gameplan and stand in the middle of the ring and bang with me for 12 rounds so that I actually have a shot then there's no possible way of me beating him."

My prediction...First six rounds: Oscar gets counterpunched and gets discouraged in using his jab consistently when it becomes clear that Floyd's right hand lead is too way quick. Last six rounds: Oscar loses a little of his sharpness due to fatigue which allows Mayweather to become even more effective. I think that Oscar will be very competitive in this fight but he just can't afford to lose that little bit of quickness and sharpness that he has lost in the middle rounds of every fight he's had since the late 90s due to fatigue. I just don't see Oscar being able to keep his stamina up now especially with all his inactivity if he couldn't even do it while he was in his prime. Not an easy one but a Mayweather UD 12 nonetheless.
Dude you lay on a cracking Arguement but i disaggree with you !!!

Oscar has taken more forms and for the most part found a way to win !!!

What im asking myself constantly is , what can Mayweather do to fend off De La Hoya for 12 rounds ?

You make references to Oscar being the counterpuncher in many fights and your right , you give Quartey as a prime example but remember Oscar was the aggressor for alot of that fight he fought in spurts and couldnt maintain it for the entire fight but his more effective work was done stalking Quartye . IQ was alot more ferocious than Mayweather more insistent and stronger .

Before that there was Chavez when Oscar IMO was at his peak and truly dazzled the life out of JCC remember the Left Hook /Uppercut ? That was against a Chavez on the wain but still a dangerous Chavez .

Then you had Tito , Tito was IMO a good fighter but a well managed fighter he was one dimensional and easy to hit if you are going to nitpick and lets not forget that Oscar put on a Clinic for 9 whole rounds it was a lesson in timing and boxing if the judges had done the right thing nobosdy would ever talk about Oscar taking 3 rounds off .

Mayweather has fast feet and thats what will win him the fight if he does win !!

Remember Oscar still has speed and power and still has a measure of distance as shown against Mayorga , Mayweather is much more skilled Mayorga ill give you that but Oscar took him out with a beautifull counter !!

I've said that after the Tito loss Oscar's heart left and never really returned but i believe Oscar has learnt so much in his career he's had to deal with adversity and fought at a far great level and displayed more power and skillfull punching than Mayweather !!!!

Mayweather will get exposed , Oscar wont play into his hands , i believe he will counter punch make Mayweather lead and step back i dont believe Oscar will put a great deal of emphasis on the jab in this fight bvecause he willl be a sucker for a counter right from Mayweather !!

If Oscar has anything left in the legs he has the strength and feet he will cut Mayweather off counter and hurt him!!

Oscar is a winner and he's too clever and too strong and knows too much too fall for Floyds traps , this reminds me of a clever plan hatched By MAB in the run up to the NAZ fight when he promised he's be making it a war and '' testing his chin ;; remember that !! All this rough housing talk is bullplop

What about Shane Mosely ? Oscar was the aggressor in those fights he took the fight to SSM in the opening rounds untill SSM upped it and put in a career performence , still SSM showed more power and substance than Mayweather ever did at Lightweight .

Finally Vargas at lightmiddleweight !! Again a close one up untill the 9th when Oscar pulled away culminating in the big finish . Vargas hits harder and is way stronger than Mayweather .

Mayweather has trouble with his hands and he's in with the biggest and baddest fighter of his career , to me it all points to an Oscar win !!!!

How i see it !!

I think it will be a slow start from Oscar he may take the figth to Mayweather but will be reluctant to use the jab . He will use quick feet and counters and make himself more elusive than usual not indulging Mayweather in the explected rough house fight . I forsee Mayweather actually getting frustrated and lulled into some exchanges in the middle of the ring where Mayweather finds he doesnt have the power and is simply outgunned !! Mayweather will then either take flight or stand and trade either way he loses .

If he stands and exchanges in the primetime of his life he will lose and if he takes flight and tries to box against the more agressive Oscar then he loses on the cards , its Vegas baby and the judges wont stand for it and besides then Oscar has him figuured out .
