Here in the UK at least I could say with 100% certainty that probably less that 5% of the British population are even aware it's occurring at all and less than 1% actually give a tuppeny F*** about it.

Floyd just isn't a big name star. Certain athletes transcend their sports Michael Schumcacker, Tiger Woods, Peter Sampras, Freddie Flintoff, David Beckham etc are all examples of stars who even non sports fans will have heard of.

Mayweather ain't even close to that level of fame. In the UK Alfonso Gomez is more recognised and I'm being totally serious when I say that.

I think this fight is a big fight, probably the biggest since Tyson Lewis but it's not any bigger in any way shape or form.
Floyd isn't a big name star in the UK but De La Hoya is, anyway in the US they are huge and that's all that matters. To be honest I doubt either one of them cares what the Brits think of them.
