Personally I like the present heavyweights because you never know what is going to happen.I like watching Wladimir and Vitali KO their opponents.I like the power and size these guys have compared to the smaller lighter fighters of the past.I really didn't care for Ali's style of fighting, to much shoe shinning and not enough mixing it up and knocking out opponents.Wladimir has excellent skills and they are overlooked because of his size, sure he has tons of power but he always outboxes whoever he fights. That is the kind of fighter that is exciting to watch.

    Two big changes IMO:

    1. Size- In past generations, it was normal to have heavyweights who were 205, 210 pounds. Holyfield was really the last of the smaller great heavyweights. Now that you have guys who are 250 instead of 205, of course they're not going to be quite as fast or throw as many combos as the smaller guys of the past.

    2. Talent- Everyone always wonders where all the American heavyweight talent went. It's simple...the Ali, Foreman, Frazier, and Norton of this generation are all around, they're just playing in the NFL. If this were 30-40 years ago, guys like Ray Lewis and Michael Vick would have become heavyweight fighters instead of football players.

I must be the only human on the planet right now that's actually down with what's going on right now in the division.

Ruiz, Rahman, & James "Fat Ass" Toney are all but gone (even though JFAT has been cleared for a comeback...hell...was he even EVER there? FWOCK NO!) & the heavies are now actually starting to fight each other. Vitali's on the mend & coming back & Wlad is pretty much where he should be. There's also Sam Peter & I am sure everyone knows how much I dig on the young Nigerian.

I woulda said "Everyone knows how much I like Peter." but you homo's woulda saddled ole' Wacko to ride that pony bareback now wouldn'tcha's?

I'm alright with the way things are shaping up.

Let's see what happens in another 6 to 8 months.

I see the next step for the heavyweights as athleticism being injected into the division.

Witherspoon is a start. 100 punches a round, he has good instincts and he is built like a tight end. Not the prettiest fighter But he is really going to be something. I mean, when he develops his all around skills a bit, how are heavyweights going to deal with that level of activity? He will make a big splash imo. But a track and basketball star in school, very athletic.

Another guy, a guy I really like, and I've been talking about him for months and hopefully years to come, a guy who could completely change the face of the division if he is brought up right, Cleveland's Aaron Williams. Cruiserweight as of right now but only 20 years old. He'll grow into a heavyweight though. Had an excellent amateur career out of Cleveland. Now he's a pro. Really fast. Works well with both hands. Punches in high volume. Has good defense. Decent pop. Throws real straight and doesn't throw the same combo twice. Works good from the outside and and inside out. REALLY someone to look out for. He's another guy who has an exceedingly high workrate for a heavy guy. Won't be long before he starts headlining big cards, a gem.

Absolute manchild and I really really believe he has the potential to be something special. Watching him fight is like watching a welterweight, Paul Williams or somebody in terms of his offense fight, 6'2 I believe with a giant reach, but he knows how to slip a punch. I don't know what his plans are for his future and what division, he fought on the 18th as a cruiserweight, but he is going to be special.

Sylvester Stallone is high on him. One of the best prospects in boxing.

If Vitali can stay in working order i'd welcome him as a legit heavyweight fighter but thats it. If sam peter would actually get dq'd for rabbit punching, i honestly beleive he wouldn't have won a fight yet. Ruiz is garbage, rahman is overrated because he sparked lewis.

yea now a days we get a few action pack fights but fighters that are unkown i'm still hoping one of them makes it big though.

tacoma dome is an hour away from here, i live 5 minutes from safeco field and quest staduim.

The wwe came a few years ago here at safeco field though for wrestlmania that was the best day I had for so long but the seahawks provides us some great games here in quest field. I go about 4 games a season to watch the hawks play. I do hope we get some fights up here though but i doubt it. but hey vegas isn't that far and L.A isn' far either.

well to be honest with you.....

a place thats not too far thats much closer than LA or vegas to you is the ROSE GARDEN in portland. i know if any big fights come to your area(northwest) they'll def more than likely be at the Rose Garden. i know that Roy Jones jr fought Clinton Woods there and PBF fought Sharmba Mitchell i believe there?

It seems because they both fight endorsed by MJ's TEAM Jordan 23 they have to fight there every so often do to some contract with the Jordan? At both fights MJ himself was present sitting ringside with his blue tooth not really giving a F about the fight itself but more so for the publicity i think its in his contract too he has to show up there for the fights as well?

i posted a thread about why do u think it all goes down in portland like that? and one intelligent poster posted about how NIKE is headquarted in portland and MJ is the front man for NIKE blah blah blah. pretty interesting if u ask me bro hollaaaar

if they get pacman fighting at the rose garden then it sure would save me some time and money rather then having to go to L.A or vegas.
