    Everything after Cream is pure SHITE! Maybe with the exception of the 'From the Cradle' album and 'Eric Clapton: Unplugged'. He's not that impressive of a player anymore.

    Call me CRAZY! but I think Tom Morello (formerly from R.A.T.M. and now with Audioslave) is the best guitarist of recent times.

    nice addition Mick ! yeah the audio slave guy really is a great musician.. a fabulous soloist although he does not play solos on the albums you hear. live he can put the hammer down.. and fantastic funky rhythm things he do .

    What? The 80's were all about the shred players, and Mars couldn't hold a candle to their technique. He's a decent player, yes. But no where near a great. Hawkins is another groove player with solid rhythmic chops. Your pick for Gibbons was spot on, Lyle. Although the other guys mentioned are good players, they are a dime a dozen.
    But hell, I'm a musician and that may have something to do with pickings.
