I think this is a mistake on Gatti's part. Gomez is coming on as a force, while Gatti is pretty much used up. When those two lines intersect, it usually spells big trouble for the older guy. Whtd do you think?

Gomez..UGH!
Very good decision by gatti what better than an over hyped easy opponent?
That makes sense I guess. Gatti versus anybody right now should make Gatti fans worried. Going out at home against a B list fighter at the height of his popularity should at least go the distance to give his fans time to get drunk enough to forget why they're Gatti fans in the first place.
Obviously didn't want any part of Matthew Hatton then![]()
Remember the good old days, we miss you Marco!

Matthew Hatton is Ricky's little brother, who Gatti put on his shortlist to fight and Matthew accepted. Gatti knew he'd lose that fight, Matthew could be a really good fighter soon, his last performance was near perfect.Originally Posted by Hulk

Yes if Gatti wins he has his one last good win before he retires and if Gomez wins its massive win for him that would rocket him up rankings.Originally Posted by Puya
I agree. Smart fight for both men. Gatti should get one last "big" win against at least a name people know. He aint beatin anyone really great so why not? I can see him blasting Gomez out of there in the late rounds after he tires.
Yes...Gatti knew he'd lose that fightOriginally Posted by bzkfn
As expressed to you in that superb one on one interview you conducted with him
Arturo gatti who just fought the p4p best, oscar de la hoya, baldomir the legitimate welterweight champ at the time..
Three wars with micky ward, wars with ruelas, robinson, and a superfeatherweight and light welterweight world champion
And he took fights with all these fighters looking to win not just to show up.. and of course he knew he would get beat by mathew hatton ..
Engage brain then speak!

It's precisely why I think he'd lose. Gatti has been in so many wars. Matthew is on the way up and is fairly fresh. I think Gatti knew it'd be a big risk. He wants the win and I think Gomes is the better option. He has nothing left though.Originally Posted by Tito_BHB
Every fighter has one last fight in him.. Not saying its this one..Originally Posted by bzkfn
But gomez is as good as hatton at least.. Just the way you put the point across is as if gatti wants none of mathew hatton and has ducked him.. Arturo gatti the blood and guts warrior just would not duck mathew hatton is my sentiments

I didn't mean it to come across that way. I'm not suggesting Gatti would duck anyone. I just think he picked the smarter option.
