Yeah man, this stuff fascinates me... think it is my inner geek trying to get out.
I remember seeing a documentary on TV about Gamma Rays, which are near the edge of what science can show us in terms of distance right now. They were seeing Gamma ray burts/explosions that were 12 billion light-years away... which means, they were seeing 12 billion years into the past. It really is mind blowing... makes me feel very small and insignificant, haha.
Just think, if we somehow got a space shuttle to the newly discovered planet today, took some pictures of extra-terrestrials and sent them back to earth instantly, we would be able to see the future. We would be seeing what they would look like in 20.5 years time to us! :P
