No the closest he came was in the late 90's but Roy Jones already had the position on lockdown for years.
i thought he was for 1 year but he was always in 2nd place behind Roy
Yeah it's basically gone Whitaker, Roy and now Floyd. There were some stop gaps in between but they have largely held down the spot for the last 15 years.
he was closest to that status during odlh vs tito
rjj even said i'll cut off one of my legs to make weight in order to fight tito!
Yep, this is basically how it's gone for the last ~15 years. The only guy I'd add is Hopkins, who was considered #1 from after Roy's loss to Tarver until BHop lost himself to Taylor.Originally Posted by amat
Oscar's never been considered #1.
He may not have been #1 but has managed to stay on the list longer then most when he was fighting full time
Hidden Content IN CASE THEY ALL FORGOT WHAT REAL HEAVYWEIGHT POWER WAS!!!
That's a good point. He probably broke on the list just a couple years deep and was never removed from the list really until his loss to Hopkins.Originally Posted by DaxxKahn
Yeah he was a for a bit, but it was heavily disputed. The funny thing is he's only been Ring champion at super welterweight.
bhop had it before floyd, floyd got the spot when bhop lost to j.t and there was no one but floyd that was close that hasn't been beaten so floyd got the spot.Originally Posted by amat

this is a good question. had he gotten the w over tito i'm sure he would have been P4P 1 then.
i thought shane had it right before he loss to vernon. bhop had it when roy fell off.
i don't get itOriginally Posted by Hairdoo
but nice pics of floyd and oscar, floyd looks a little fruity on the canvas.
