This has nothing to do with promotion, this is who Floyd is. Marketing genious? He's been an arrogant a** for a long time, so why has that marketing genious never turned into such mega success before? He has craved an event like this for years, but for some reason was never able to acheive it until a fight with the real marketing genious, De La Hoya.
When he compares himself to Ali I have to laugh. At times Ali's mocking and ridicule could be harsh, but there was almost always something theatrical to it. Something that would make you chuckle when you saw it, even if you didn't want to. Also, even when he seemed at his worse, you could see Ali's character and purpose in what he was doing.
He stood up agaisnt the war, against racism, as an advocate for his faith, and often paid a heavy price for it. While he wasn't always honorable, to this day I hate much of went on between him and Frazier and think he treated that man very unfairly, you knew what he was fighting for and why. You have to respect that.
How does this compare with Floyd? Except for the loud mouth part, not in any singe way. The more Floyd talks the more he comes across as a nasty, pathetic, insecure little man.
