    Hatton fancies Mayweather job!

Ricky Hatton's promoter Dennis Hobson says the WBA-IBF light-welterweight champion fancies his chances against Floyd Mayweather even more after the pound-for-pound leader's tainted welterweight title victory over Zab Judah in Las Vegas last weekend. In a telephone conversation concerning Hatton's stablemate Esham Pickering, who fights for the IBF featherweight title on the same bill as Hatton's clash with Colombian Luis Collazo in Boston on May 13, Hobson said, "I wasn't over-impressed. He [Mayweather] is no Sugar Ray Leonard, I can tell you that. Judah punched for the first four rounds and then he just seemed to go into his shell. He [Hatton] is gonna be like a steam train, he's not gonna be able to stop coming at him. He [Mayweather] has got all the ability in the world but's that's all right if you're having your own way. One thing's for sure, Ricky Hatton's not gonna let him have it all his own way. Ricky fancies the job big style. A lot of the Yanks think Mayweather's this, that and the other. But look what happened with Jeff Lacy? I think sometimes we undersell ourselves as Britons." Hatton fights Collazo for the WBA welter title while Mayweather now holds the IBF version.

Hobson said: "I think sometimes we undersell ourselves as Britons."

I think what he meant was that he had a hell of a time selling himself over here in the states as a Briton.

Don't underestimate Floyd off of just one performance...it will be your down fall.

Never beg a 40 dollar hooker...specially after she's just turned down your mom's credit card!!

I know the point they're trying to get across, but comparing Floyd to what happened with Jeff Lacy is ridiculous.

Hatton will lose. And if Calzaghe was the same weight as Floyd, or vice-versa, he'd get beat worse.

i admire the confidence in Hatton, he knows the mistakes Zab made and will not do that himself.

Good point, but Floyd will fight Hatton totally different than he did Zab. Floyd knows what mistakes Tszyu made, and won't make the same mistakes.

Both are smart fighters. But if Hatton underestimates Floyd, he will lose.

This matchup will come down to the difference in speed imo.
Zab gave Floyd a couple problems early 'cause Zab does have great quickness himself, I'll give him that.
But the difference in speed between Floyd and Hatton will be too much for Ricky.
It's gonna be a discouraging to Ricky when Floyd is popping him every time he comes in.
This will not come down to a battle of attition.
Both fighters are extremely prepared to go 12 rounds of high paced action any night. I don't give anyone the advantage there.

i agree....it will be a totally different fight but let's just hope that Hatton dosen't lose heart and decides to stop fighting. Ive seen too many fighters do that before.

See i don't think Hatton will underestimate floyd or anyone for that matter.
Billy Graham is a master tacticion and Hattons rough style will be something that PBF has never faced as will his incredible stamina and bulldozer style.
Hatton will bash him up brutally.
    Mark my words
PBF won't like what Ricky dishes out and will lose his head i reckon.
There really is a new sheriff in town and he is Sir Richard Hatton.
I used to doubt Hatton beating him BUT i see cracks in Floyd with every differnt style he faces and Hatton will Demoralise him then relentlessly beat him to a pulp

Floyd can have all the ability in the world, but he'll never be mean enough to fight someone like Calzaghe. We all thought Lacy was vicious but Joe showed us you could infact be even more vicious. IE: While Lacy was getting slaughtered what was Calzaghe saying in between rounds? - He's shit! Fuck him - then went right back to rearranging his skull. Some people just truely love hurting others, and I love Joe for that

While I don't think Hatton is quite as ruthless as Calzaghe (and yes I truely believe he could beat a human being to death and not feel bad about it, he's just mean lol - Poor Roy), he's still got the the right style for mayweather, and unlike Judah he'll be active on the inside, slowing floyd down with body punches like he did to Judah. I think Hatton will confuse the shit out of him. If I had to guess he'd be saying to himself holy shnikeys, this guy won't stop throwing, coming forward, nor will he go down! What do I do? If he's smart he'll make a note of what Judah did to him in the 10th. Cotto I think is a bit too slow to make a fight with Mayweather competitive, Corrales as much as I hate to admit would be dismantled again, Freitas at 140 would be a good fight but still would end up with Floyd victorious. Bottom line if Ricky can't do it, I doubt anyone will.

I've got one thing to say to Hatton, SHUT THE FUCK UP AND STOP DUCKING PBF THEN!!! If Hatton's ready, they can make the fight after Collazo, Mayweather's open in September anyway. Let's get it on right now and stop fucking talking about 2007 if your so fucking confident. Hatton didn't say shit after PBF murdered Gatti, but because Floyd had a little trouble with Zab, now all of a sudden he wants to talk. Come on Hatton, somebody's 0 has to go.

... Judah didn't make a mistake... Mayweather just figured him out, relaxed, and adapted. Hatton doesn't have the only thing that made this fight somewhat hard for Mayweather, and thats comparable speed.

Yeah the Jeff Lacy comparison is a little absurd. Somebody should tell Dennis that it's Mayweather that is the boxer, Ricky is the puncher :P

And when has Gatti lost heart and stop fighting? He didn't even against ODLH... He has more heart than Hatton IMO... its just too much fighting Mayweather... you'll see.
