yep i feel you. thing is, in my point of view even the somewhat inactive oscar isn't still enough along with the other decent boxers he fought to be called as the one of the best fighter ever, not yet.. I know it is unfortunate that floyd doesn't have as fierce competion as with SRL, Duran, hearns and the likes era because of the lack of great fighters available for him to fight and the fact that some of them he didn't fight yet, and some fans just concluded that just because he won against oscar then he could take all of them without trouble, in some fans imagination yes, but in reality the fight still needs to happen to present that very important proof just like some of the greatest fighters we knew today. it is unfortunate, but if a boxer wants to achieve the honor of being called one of the best ever, he needs to earn it and earn it not just by fans imagination but on paper as well. Im not saying floyd can't be the best, he is still on his way and not just there yet. fact is there a lot of names he still needs to conquer and we can't just bail him out by saying oh never mind hatton he's too slow, never mind waiting for and fighting cotto he's a fraud, oh never mind mosely he would end up just like ODLH anyway just retire and you're the best fighter now. Bottom line is he still needs to fight this guys no matter what and "we should never assume that just because he won to a certain great guy, then he no longer need to fight others to be called one of the best ever" Well He needs to fight them all if an opportunity permits, win or lose just like other greats. Prove it on the paper and challenge the fans expectations or much better exceed them that's what greats do and please the quality of wins affects it as much as just winning the fight perse. That's why as of now, in my opinion floyd is still not one of the best ever.. yet.. but i agree he could be one of the best defensive boxer ever.Originally Posted by Smashup
