Default The only honorable title left in boxing

So much for the so called p4p king, all of the decision score cards talk. some have it close some don't. Em i the only one that think boxings most honorable title is the p4p #1 spot. and how can a boxer that doesn't finish of big and doesn't dominate be the p4p king. Floyd has dominated but i think to keep the statues of p4p king his got to be finishing off fighters or getting a u.d and leaving everyone nothing to talk about. I think oscar made the fight in the early rounds, floyd started picking him off in the middle rounds but nobody finish big at the endding rounds. I miss the days when p4p king would show who the fwock he is and would completely wipe out the competition either by knock out or clear cut u.d and finishes big. Floyd pretty much showed how his a 1 hit get out fighter, i know he could sum up some combos but he didn't do nothing he has been saying for the past 4 weeks before the fight. For a challenger coming into the fight floyd was the most defensive and look at times to just want to go 12 and get the decision and go home. I'm not trying to hate on floyd but how i wish he would beat everyone like what he did to gatti, thats what p4p kings do. if floyd does that in every fight i'd go watch his fights all the time. But to be honest even though oscar did lose that fight(which i thought was a close fight) I'd still go and watch his fight before a floyd one.

I give him props the kid won yea he did win but boxing is proving how dead it is, when the only title left that is honoralbe is given to a guy that doesn't remind us of the past greats. when they would go the extra miles to finish and dominate at the end.

I think floyd could of finish bigger maybe even k.oing oscar, but then again oscar could of done the same to our so called p4p king and oscar isn't even top 20 p4p right now.

I would have also liked to have seen Floyd DOMINATE. But he didn't, he just won. And just winning against a bigger, stronger, more expierenced Oscar Delahoya is still pretty damn good. I'm no Mayweather fan, but if he is not P4P #1 then who is? Manny Pacqauio who just beat up on an unknown? Floyd is not the greatest #1 P4P fighter ever, but he is the latest #1 P4P fighter.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

CC agreed. Im not a massive fan of Mayweather but other than the Baldo fight,I love watching him fight because it reminds us,not all boxers have to go toe to toe all out war everytime. He's a defensive genius and this win over Oscar makes him P4P number 1 for sure,Manny can't be there for beating bloody Solis?! Fans are getting confused, boxing has different meanings to everyone,it's not just tope to toe, battles, wars, showing heart all the time,it can be the art of hitting and not being hit,the sweet science. Floyd DOES NOT have an ALL TIME GREAT GREAT resume though and Julius,I can see what you mean, limited opposition like Baldo should have got beaten worse. I see where you are coming from but not everyone can be exciting like Manny

true u cant really compare pbf and manny i mean pbf says it best: the longer i can go without getting hit the longer i last in the sport.(even tho hes boasting retirement lol)

manny on the other hand is just a crazy powerhouse full of power/aggression/speed/excitement/no holds barred/entertainment. manny can not last long in the sport with his style. manny should really fight the best biggest names out there like NOW and then retire after.

personally id like to see jmmII more than anything. mab II would be bad asss too, but less meaningful. or unify and retire.

floyd does get hit but not enough, floyd does hit but not enough. for a p4p king i think he needs to do more. boxing needs someone that finishes big that goes the extra mile to show the world who he is. im not asking for a brawl,a war or whatever i'm just asking for more effort. the only title left in boxing with honor is the p4p title, floyds style is cancer to boxing. our past greats went the extra mile to finish a fight thats all i ask for. to give floyd the title p4p he owe us that extra mile.

I'm not even trying to bring up pac or winky i just want to talk about floyd because majority of us say floyd is p4p king. and our only title left with honor is the p4p title thats why this forum should be about floyd.

yeah but Floyd is a real small p4p fighter, he's come up from super feather so he's not gonna be droppin bombs. if he had waded in and went for the knockout he mightve been able to finish oscar but also he mightve went the same route as Billy Conn did decades ago. His style isnt always the most exciting to watch...but is that his fault or is it that he is just too far ahead of his opponents in speed and defensive prowess? Floyd is not a crushing, brawling type fighter he is a more finesse oriented, defensive fighter known for his ability to box, stick and move. Kind of like Pernell Whitaker, who also didnt finish a lot of people but didnt get this kind of criticism which isnt fair in my book. Different fighters fight different ways. Boxing is an art and certain people create their own style; not everyone does it the same and the big KO is not the only way to win. For a lot of people it may be the most satisfying to watch. For myself, I really like to watch a good scientific and defensively fought bout. I may be the last of a dying breed saying this. Call me crazy but he fought a hell of a fighter on Saturday and like it or not he won convincingly. He didnt beat Oscar's ass, but who really has beat Golden Boy down like that, besides that mismatch of a fight against the much bigger Hopkins (who I still had Oscar out boxing for most of that fight). Floyd in my opinion convincingly proved once again there is no fighter in boxing who can keep up with him (that fight was not a SD; it clearly should have been unanimous for Floyd), and also like most great fighters who continue to move up weight, he is finding it harder and harder for his punches to have that zinging effect they once had in the lighter weights and finding it harder to supply the KO's and the super dominant performances. That is what happens when you move up in weight and in class. And like it or not, Oscar was the bigger man and still has a lot left as far as his boxing skill and talent. Floyd would have been dumb to try to trade with him and risk absorbing a possible KO punch from the Golden Boy (who looked a lot bigger than Floyd in the fight) coming straight at him and trying to beat him down and KO him in what was already a dominating technical performance. I guess what I'm trying to say is a P4P guy this small probably isnt gonna be racking up a lot of big KO's. Floyd's genius is in his movement, handspeed, great defense and his ring smarts, not in his power which has been dwindling steadily and has been harder for him to KO the bigger opposition since moving up from the super lightweight division.

so do you think floyd is good for the sport as the current champion as the only title left in boxing with any real honor I don't think its his fualt his style is like that, but i think its up to him to leave as a legend and make sure he stays in the memories of fight fans. even the new fans would remember him if he'd finish big.

can we actually remember this fight with oscar

when we look back at oscars fights we would remember the 11th round with vargas and the fight with ike, what about this one with floyd

the fight we will remember floyd in if any is the one with gatti, and if floyd wants real legacy thats how he should do against his oppenents. majority of just knew oscar would lose. actuall we all know what will happen in a floyd fight nowadays. his fights are predictable the most.

I think we can appreciate floyds talent, but his fights very little of us will. and whats keeping boxing alive are the fights. what do you guys think?
