Why is oscar liked so much?

first oscar is a very good boxer..not great by any means....he's never beaten a prime fighter on his level...he does sell extremely well though..he's not a blood and guts warrior as many see micky ward and gatti...he doesn't fight to the death like morrales and barrera...so what exactly is it that make people dispute all of his losses and not question the victories that he got just because of his star-power...which brings me to another question

why does he have star power as a boxer that hasn't even come close to dominating the sport?
