I'm in Houston (very heavy Mexican population) and I distinctly remember being in middle school around the Chavez fight and my friends families rooting for Chavez and cursing at ODLH for beating up an old Chavez. Then I remember him fighting Trinidad when I was in high school. I missed the fight and came to school that Monday and all my Mexican friends told me that the fight was a rip off and that it was boring. Then I remember being in college during the Vargas fight and my friend's dad told me that Oscar was a white boy and that he'd had a kid with some blonde Miss USA. I remember laughing my a** off because I thought he was lying about the white girl and he kept calling Oscar a gringo and saying that Vargas was gonna bust that a**. Little did he know that Vargas would get KTFO. Now I'm watching the Mayweather fight remembering the past yet seeing all this support for ODLH and I think to myself: Do the Mexicans really like ODLH or do they just support him now because he's a high profile Mexican and they feel obligated to?
