You're right. He should've came out and said, "Come May 5th, I'm gonna beat Oscar by a split decision! Y'all wait and see!"
How dare he not realize there are people who hang on his every last word to the most literal extent.
I'm sorry if you feel cheated. How dare he lie to you.
But don't you worry, I'm here for you in your time of need.
Let the healing begin.
I reserve the right to bitch all I want about anything I desire. I don't do it often, and I don't participate in all the threads about who's the best p4p crap anyway. I don't believe in the p4p crap for anyone.

See I look at this from a business standpoint. I am in business, I have to sell things to make a living, and if I lied intentionally to make more sales, I would not get praised for it and be called a "smart businessman" However many people here think Floyd lying about how he's gonna fight is "smart" and good business. He did it two fights in a row. I never expected him to allow the other guy to hit him, but he could have been alot more offensive in both fights. The deal is I half believed that Floyd had enough anger, and since this is his "last fight" he would come out and put on a career defining performance. One that there would be an HBO Legendary Nights episode about. There probably will be one, but not because Floyd left it all in the ring.

I just don't think he earned that big paycheck. I think he cheated to get it, and the thing is he probably could have earned it and made alot of fans if he showed something. He didn't, so he gets no respect from me, and I will bitch for a few days. If you don't like it then don't read my post and worry about defending the honor of poor little Floyd.... Unless your on his payroll, then by all means do what you get paid to do, and EARN YOUR PAYCHECK!!!
Nah, it's more fun reading posts from someone who disagrees with me.

I understand what you're saying.
I'm not sure what you actually sell so I can't comment on that exactly. But selling a product and selling a fight are COMPLETELY different.
I mean, if a computer salesman tried to sell a 1.2ghz 128mb RAM computer and told the seller it's a 3.0ghz 4gb ddr-ram, that's a little different than a fighter saying he'll knock out his opponent and ends up winning by decision. There are some things out of your control and some things within.
I respect the fact that your judgement of his boxing skills isn't clouded by your dislike of his personailty. As you stated earlier you have no problem with his boxing skills.
So your dislike of him is based 100% on his big mouth.
What I'm basically trying to get at is,
If you never saw an episode of 24/7, if you never watched or heard any of the pre-fight hype or press conference talk, what would your opinion of the fight on May 5th be? Still a disappointment?

All I'm getting at is that I think expectations we put on fights are our own faults.
I went in expecting Oscar De La Hoya vs Floyd Mayweather. That's what I got. So I wasn't disappointed.
You were expecting more. Floyd's fault? Or yours?
I don't see a difference in selling the fight or a product. Again I don't have a problem with a fighter talking more smack than they can back up. Mayorga always says he's ko'ing the guy he's fighting. He tries to do it, and last time out he got ko'd. But he went for it. To me it's a whole different story when you it SEEMS like you never intended to go for a ko. The thing about the expectation is this.... I am a boxing fan, and I follow the fighters, etc. so I know a hell of alot more than the average person watching. All the hype wasn't aimed at me, I watch FNF's and WNF's and pretty much any fight televised. That hype was aimed at all the normal guys that ordered the ppv. Were all the highlights showing PBF making his "ice" and "massacre" comments, and calling ODH a pussy? Or did the general public just glean that cause that's what was expected? Nope, PBF put on a show fit for pro wrestling. As far as the fight itself, it was ok, but the comment Bhop made about Winky putting on his seatbelt twice, is how I saw PBF's performance.

Roger even said it in about the 9th round, "keep doing what your doing, but now whoop his ass". Why would Roger say that if Floyd was doing it? He was just trying to win on points.

And now my opinion on decisions... The only way you can say that you decisively beat someone is if you ko them or you flat out put a beating on them. PBF didn't win that kind of a decision. Decisions are beauty contests. This judge likes blondes, that judge likes brunettes, and the third judge likes redheads but he votes for the blonde. It's purely 100% opinion. So for a fighter to barely win a decision and then say it's easy work, further pisses me off. Especially after earning a huge paycheck based upon this being a fight, not a night of easy work. Go kick the guys ass. That's what you advertised, that's why there's a big paycheck, but instead you coast and say it was easy work! Floyd bets on games, he was cussing at the tv when he's waiting to see if he won his bet, imagine Floyd would be cussing if the team he bet on barely one, but didn't cover the spread, and then say in the interview it's easy work?
