Stop judging MMA by boxing standards. OKay, it's not hard to believe a passing glance at a bout as SEEMINGLY sloppily contested as some MMA fights wouldn't incite some kind of acid reflux among a boxing purist. A boxer sees wild swings combined with some kind of wrestling match, a human pretzel of arms and legs on the mat, sees Chuck Liddell's awkward stance, a squatting defilement of proper boxing technique, and believes he could take his head off. You're not stopping to think of what happens when you try and adopt pure boxing into MMA, not understanding what a leg kick does to your thighs, and not cognizant of the perpetual danger of someone trying to take your legs out from under you (much less the deep waters of jiu-jitsu). An MMAist will throw "as many strikes as he can" when hes pinned his opponent down simply because he has had to work very hard for that position and simply because he can and the opponent cannot escape. Do you really have such a lack of respect for other martial arts: "somebody pulling a body part until the other guy taps out." Do you have no conception of the work a fighter has to do in order to isolate that body part? And YEs they do work hard. A 3 minute bout may be easy in boxing, but the game changes in MMA (though the whole 3 minute bout thing is a complete exaggeration.) Grappling is tough and hard work, and keep in mind the smaller gloves. I am NOT saying MMA is somehow "superior" to boxing, I'm saying it's different and It cannot be judged by watchin a few UFC fights. MMA did not come for the sole purpose of destroying boxing or "exposing" it in some way, it is simply a different perspective of fighting and it truly deserves respect from anyone who calls themselvs a fight fan.Originally Posted by Punisher136

. Most have horrible chins and the "action" is 95% rolling around on the ground coupled with horrible "striking" technique. The other 5% is one punch/kick ko's that could've been blocked or avoided by someone who knew wtf they were doing, one guy pinning the other guy to the ground and throwing as many punches as he can (most of which don't land but he wins the fight by stoppage anyway), and somebody pulling a body part until the other guy taps out.
