Ulli Wegner, trainer of IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham, has had to hire an attorney to defend against a police inquiry stemming from Abraham's boxing match with Edison Miranda eight months ago. According to BILD, Berlin authorities have initiated preliminary proceedings against Wegner because he didn't stop the fight after Abraham suffered a broken jaw in round four of that bout. "The whole thing is absurd," said Wegner who is preparing Abraham for his comeback fight on May 26 against unbeaten Sebastien Demers in Bamberg, Germany. "I always had the towel in my hand to intervene if it had been necessary." Abraham, who sustained a broken jaw in two places but retained his title by twelve round decision, stated that he is "unbelievably grateful" that Wegner didn't stop the fight. Wegner's attorney Adrian Stahl doesn't see the basis for the proceeding, commenting that 1) Abraham was in full possession of his mental faculties and capable of making his own decision and 2) Referee Randy Neumann was there to break off the fight if there was a worry about the health of the boxer.

He DID force Abraham back into the ring,Arthur wanted NO MORE of Pantera when his jaw was busted.
Yes, that's completely true... And Abraham did make his own decision, to end the fight then and there. There were some very odd circumstances in that fight.. I'd bet there hasn't been another fight in years where a fighter was injured so badly, wanted to stop fighting, and yet went on another 7 rounds to win... I don't think it's really a police matter but Abraham did shake his head when asked if he wanted to fight after having the jaw broken. Plain and simple.
I totally agree with you my man(thats happening far too often as of late :P ) There must be some sort of punishment for that,I mean he forced the guy to fight. Even the ref was mentioning a TKO for Pantera. And that ref sucked ass bigtime! I want to see a rematch stateside!
