I'm not quite sold on Haye yet.

Obviously he has a lot of positives, but I want to see him against someone who isn't completely flatfooted like everybody he's been in the ring with.

He has very good power, he sits down on his punches good. He boxes out of a very relaxed stance and he looks very natural when he throws that right hand following the jab. His jab works very nice when he puts it in front of punches, that's something he didn't have when he lost to...Carl Thompson? I think it was Thompson. So he has a base offense to build on at the very least and obviously his power is going to make a lot of people crumble and his 1,2 is very sound.

But he has other flaws, even on the offensive side of things.

Starting off, he throws the lead left hook far to much for my liking. Normally that would not be a problem, but his lead left hook is very slow and he throws it low. He rushes in without throwing punches and tends to smother his opponents, in fact, a lot of his KO's have come when his opponents have just crouched down when smothered and he's knocked them out. And then and possibly the worst especially if he wants to compete against the heavyweights, he keeps his left hand at his midsection. He needs to pick that hand up because he can really be set up for a right hand with the hand that low.

I still rate him as a prospect as of right now, I want to see him in the ring with some crafty guys who have actual foot movement like a Wayne Braithwaite or Eliseo Castillo before seeing him take on anyone near the top of any division.

He is developing nicely though, and in a year or so we will have a better outlook on whether or not he is the heavyweight we are looking for.
