For a sport which taxes loads of components of fitness you gotta do a variety of types of training!
For conditioning - I love Drills on the heavy bag, activates loads of muscle groups intensely and obviously it's sport specific... plus it's great fun!
Love hill sprints... even when I go on a run for distance I find if I come to a good hill/set of stairs/what ever I've got to bust out some sprints... after about 3 good ones going all out you start to feel it... really gets you... call me a masochist but I love it!
Calisthenics are good too, burpees etc... generally I just love any type of training that uses a lot of large muscle groups and that get you moving around.
For strength training, I generally do a lot of body weight exercises... most of them plyometricly (like pretty much all my resistance training) pull up and push up variations (loads... I do about 15-20 types of push up) etc... If I'm using weights or a machine then I like to use the lat pull down machine with a V grip... again you use loads of muscles and you have the advantage of being able to work plyometricly for the positive part of the rep and then slowly on the negative part... so you hit slow and fast fibres.
I love rowing as well (mostly on a rowing machine... not really easy for me to go out and row on a boat...play a bit of basketball and I'm starting swimming soon
I also love the top and bottom ball I have in the house... good skill and conditioning training!![]()
