marciano would ko him in 1--just like his idol joe louis did
marciano would ko him in 1--just like his idol joe louis did
Schmeling would beat the shit out of him, he beat a prime Louis so he'd have no prob against the Italian Marciano
yea if schmelings got some krypotnite on himOriginally Posted by ElTerribleMorales
You have obviously forgot one of the greatest assets Marciano had--Heart!!
Not to mention a body attack that would dismantle anybody. He only got out of the game because of pressure from his mother and wife. who knows just how great he could have been. Not taking away anything from Schmeling.
It feels good to be back home.
I think this topic has been posted before. Back then i went for schmeling by KO 7. But on further reflection I think any decent heavyweight would toy with Marciano. Marciano certainly NEVER met anyone near as good as a prime schmeling. The only names on Marciano's record r guys wayyyyyyyyy past their best.
Therefore Schemiling to destroy Marciano. schmeling by KO 7.
Marciano is way overrated. He won a hard fought fight against Joe Walcott to win the title, after having been knocked down in the first and being behind on all judges scorecards going into the 13th round when he knocked Walcott out.Originally Posted by rob7022000
Walcott was a bum, he won the world title on the 5th attempt, come on even Frank Bruno took less attempts!
Marciano was lucky in that he fought in an era of no significant opposition, just missed the Louis era, and also missed the Pattersson, Ali, Foreman era as well.
He wouldn't have remained unbeaten in any other era apart from the last 10 years.
Gutsy fighter though, fun to watch but not top 5 material no way.
Ali, Lewis, Holmes, Louis, Johnson and Foreman could all have ended his unbeaten run. Probably Holyfield, possibly Patterson, Frazier, Norton, Baer, Schmeling could have given him a great fight.
Oh and Tyson and maybe Jack Dempsey too. In fact Tyson and Dempsey against Marciano would have been wars, probably greatest heavyweight fights of all time!
If you watch video of Schmeling (and taking the jerky quality of the frames into consideration), he had a big right hand but not much else about his skills was world class.
He was not particularly big, average jabber, no KO in his left hand. Granted, he was tough as hell (apart from when he won his world title on the floor).
He would not have had enough firepower to keep Marciano off him for 12 rounds, never mind 15. I think Marciano wins 8 out of 10 fights against Max, by stoppage but not outright KO.
The 2 that Max wins would have been stoppages on cuts
If God wanted us to be vegetarians, why are animals made of meat ?
Schemling outclasses Marciano, leaving the Brockton Blockbuster a crimson mess, in 11 one sided rounds.![]()

schmeling is way more overated than marciano---schmelling was ok---louis lost to him because louis underestimated him--
marciano would keep charging-schemling would take all of marciano's hits--schemling would be exhausted by the 10th from rockys constant attck--schmeling would land some nice punches to rocky's face--rocky wouldnt even blink and would keep charging--and in a barrage of swarming punches--ko the overrated schmeling in 11--at the latest--to beat rocky u would need a ali/holmes type style--which schmeling doesnt posses
as 4 as the overrated battle goes--schmeling vs marciano---schmeling wins that 1!
tyson woulda ko'd schmeling in 13 seconds

I am not Marciano's Greatest fan, so I think that is part of the reason, I picked against him!!!
funny louis never had quality opposition--to rack up jis losses as well--foreman, frazier, tyson, ali , holyfield and holmes-would have added many losses to louis record--louis was in a weak ass era 2Originally Posted by bilbo
Max Shmeling is like a Kostya Tszyu stylewise. And I think he could catch Marciano on his flaws.
For his size, Marciano was the strongest man ever to lace on a pair of gloves. He had a specially made 300 lb. heavy bag that he used for his workouts so that he could prepare to move around much bigger men. He was stronger than most modern heavyweights who outweigh him by 30 or 40 lbs. He also was always in great condition. He did roadwork every day whether he was preparing for a fight or not. In the modern era of fat heavyweights, he could easily have let himself go and ballooned up to 210 or 215 lbs. If you look at any of his old photos you can see an awesome, trim punching machine who threw nothing but hard punches. Most modern heavyweights are a disgrace compared to Rocky.
In any case, I can't see Schmeling going the distance with such a fighter. I've seen a few of Schmeling's fights, particularly against Young Stribling and Jack Sharkey, and he was an excellent fighter, but not the powerhouse that Marciano was. It would have been a great fight as long as it lasted. Schmeling was a smart, clean fighter who fought out of a partial crouch with his left hand held low, a little like Dempsey. He schooled Joe Louis with his good right hand in their 1st fight, but it was the last time that Louis ever looked like that. The rematch was a total mismatch.
