I cannot imagine this fight going onto the ground. I dont really seek out kimbo fights but I have eseen 4-5 of them including the one he lost. I have a feeling when he fights anyone who has experience it will be trouble for him. He kept saying "on the streets" like its going to give him some credibility. Most of those people he fights are bums but the fact is he's fighting a veteren in a ring...

Seems like they were a little disorganized so they take a little time to get started, then Ray Mercer, dressed in some Steelers gear gets on and talks about how they are gonna "take it to the next level". Literally that's all he says. Like five times in a row. "We gonna take it to the next level". Then they ask Kimbo some questions and he seems a lot more pissed off and ready to beat on someone than Ray Mercer is. He says he not only wants to beat up Ray but Ray's homeboy, too. He also claims to know Shannon Briggs well and does not intend to stop street fighting in the wake of this MMA/Cage fight with Mercer. He tells the interviewers, "I'm a fighter, someone comes up to me in the street, Im a fight." Sounds like a fun guy to hang out with.

They then ask Mercer how he thinks the fight will go, to which he replies that he thinks it will be mainly boxing, though he is prepared (and is pretty sure that his opponent is also prepared) to go to the ground. Ray also said there will be no judges needed as someone was going out...he just hoped it wasnt him. Bottom line they both agree, that it is a fight and there are no rules (even though there must be some kind of rules, I imagine). Pretty standard stuff. Then someone asks Mercer whether there would be a problem going 5 minute rounds rather than 3 minute rounds. Ray intelligently responds, "What's the difference between 3 minutes and 5 minutes?"


Uhhh...2 minutes? Which is probably what this fight will last and if it goes past that will most likely deteriorate to 2 holding, hugging, hyperventilating out of shape, past their prime fighters flopping about inside a big cage. If big Ray has ANY kind of boxing gifts left from his remarkable career, Kimbo is as good as on ice. But Father Time is a bitch that is good at sucking even the most talented man dry of all his gifts. If this PPV is less than $15.00, I may tune in to find out...

going to be a good fight, id rather see them fight kimbo style in a backyard, but its good to see him fight someone with a name, i think murcer will be too tough for him, cant wate!
