RJJ in his prime, was the perfect fighter,a genetic freak. As close as a human being can get to being Superman.
seriously bro i was so PUMPED that night i could have ran all the way back home from 702 to LA down the 15south lol thats how PUMPED and INSPIRED i was that night!Originally Posted by Hulk
Pretty close to Superman thats for sure, just needed the "S" on his chest and you wouldn't be able to tell the differnce. BestP4P I remember watchin the Roy Jones Jr. vs John Ruiz fight and being very impressed myself. It was great to see Roy win a portion of the HW title. Now if he would have beaten Lennox, THAT would have been fukin unbelieavable. But beating Ruiz was still pretty good. Ruiz, boring fuker that he is, has beaten a lot of top heavweights.Originally Posted by El Gamo

At one time I was a big RJJ fan, but he started thinking he was the greatest fighter ever, talking shit about Sugar Ray Robinson, he become unbearable to listen to " WHEN RJ SHOWS UP BAY-BEE, YA'LL DON'T WANT NONE, I'LL FIGHT ANYONE, ANYWHERE!!! Then Jim Lampley stated that Roy Jones was the only HBO fighter that was given a list of fighters to which he said NO! or Yes! to. He always criticized De La Hoya, yet Oscar never ducked any fighter, Jones can't say the same. When Tarver knocked his head off and then Glen Johnson K.O. him in back to back fights that humbled his arrogant ass, so I don't miss him at all. Many people on this forum think he was unbeatable with post about him beating all-time great heavyweights like Marciano and Louis, ......I think there all crazy.
seriously bro watching that fight on tv and the thomas and mack center that night was two completely different things bro!Originally Posted by Hulk
Yeah and he also did steriods, I don't care what anybody says.Originally Posted by El Gamo
Roy Jones Jr.
Arrogant conceited hot dog with vastly overinflated sense of his own greatness. Outstanding athletic abilities.
Brought down by one punch.
Unable to deal with adversity in the ring.
How many times did we see him win a fight by hot dogging it against guys who really were not in the same league.
That shot he took from Tarver cheered me up immensely.
Glad as hell he's gone.
You can hate him thats fine but he had the skills of an all time great for sure.Originally Posted by atomic bull
as most people are when someone is as great as roy..someone will always sit back and wish for his fall...but it took 15years and lack of motivation for him to get hit by a lucky punch...Originally Posted by zzz
Not to mention the punch would have kayo'ed anybody...and roy got up but nady stopped it...anyway you forgot to to mention how much heart roy had to dominate for 15years...
"Sixty forty I kicks yo' ass, Sixty forty I tears yo' ass up" - Roy Jones
yeah....except Superman is a B*tch........Originally Posted by El Gamo

It feels good to be back home.
Not at all There are a lot of equally great and dominant fighters with long careers that I have admired, I just don't like hot dogs. I never said he wasn't good.Originally Posted by JonesJrMayweather
So you are saying Roy wasn't motivated therefore he got caught by that punch? I think I remember him saying something about not being motivated. Sounds like an excuse to me.
As for whether or not he was fit, I thought he looked pretty sharp in that 2nd fight, not "way past it" as many would say.
I agree with the part about him being sharp in 2nd fight i thought he looked sharp with his punches he won 1st round easily and just got caught with lucky punch it happens even to the best of em.Originally Posted by zzz
Maybe if Tarver hadn't gotten into drugs, they would have fought a little sooner, when Roy was at his very best. He was still good that night and got caught, but I find it hard to believe that Tarver at the peak of his talent and physical ability beats a Roy Jones at the peak of his talent and ability.
