Trigger point therapy is great for releasing tension. You know when you've found one because it's really painful for a while then eases off and you often get referred pain/sensation. Hard to do on your own though. If you can get someone else to apply the pressure with their thumb or an elbow while you relax it works better. You can find them all over your body but the best ones are to be found in the scalanus, pecs,glutes and iliotibial band.
