In case you've forgotten,it's Easter!
The meaning of Easter
Early on Sunday morning, Mary Magdalen, along with other women, went to visit the tomb of Jesus. To their surprise, the soldiers who were supposed to be guarding the tomb were not there. They were even more surprised and afraid because the tomb was opened and the body of Jesus disappeared.
Mary Magdalen went inside the cave while she was crying. She saw two angels inside. “Why are you crying?” the angels asked her. “Because they have taken away my Lord” she answered. And then another voice behind her said to her, “Mary, why do you cry?”.
She turned around and realized that it was Jesus standing behind her. She could not believe her eyes. She went and told the apostles, “I have seen the Lord!”. The apostles could not believe it either that Jesus was alive. The great news was too good to be true. As the apostles were gathered together speaking about all of this, Jesus appeared among them and said “Peace be unto you”.
As soon as they saw Him, the apostles knew that it was Jesus Himself, their beloved teacher. This was the happiest moment in their life (Although it was about to get even better).
Just then, a Rabbit hopped past. To their amazement, it laid an egg – and not just any old egg, a foil-covered chocolate egg, in a box, with two Mars bars. They rejoiced, and all rushed off to Clinton's to buy cards for each other, and invited their grandparents round for Sunday lunch. Slightly upset at being upstaged, Jesus said “Hang on a minute – I've just come back from the dead”. “Yeah”, said one of the apostles, “But that rabbit just laid an egg – and not just any old egg, a foil-covered chocolate egg, in a box, with two Mars bars”.
They had a vote on which was the biggest Miracle. 20% of the votes went to Jesus' resurrection, and thus the Church was formed, and Easter was forever celebrated by this minority as a religious festival. The other 80% voted for the Easter bunny, and his chocolate Egg, and they decreed “Easter shall forever be about chocolate, eggs, and cards - and what the hell – let's make it a long weekend and we can all get in our cars and block up the motorways!”
