Totally disagree there...many fans on this site are hung up on the lighter weights.

Also...154 to 168 has had some of the more exciting fights of the last 4 or 5 years.
thats cuz gyrokai my greek vietnamese homie is a super feather weight himself! the boy is fast! fast like his comics like the FLASH

Ok I found it. This is from The Boston Globe writer Ron Borges on 9-25-1994 regarding then WBC champion and Manny Steward trained fighter champion Lennox Lewis.

    -----------
"Coming out of the '88 Games, I thought he was the prize fighter," Steward said several days before he sent his latest charge, McCall, into the ring at Wembley Arena to challenge Lewis, whom he beat via TKO 31 seconds into the second round to become the new World Boxing Council champion. "But he has not progressed at all to the degree he should. In fact, he's regressed.

"He's a name fighter now because he was handed a championship by the WBC, but no one's excited about him being a great fighter or a great puncher or a great boxer. He's gone backward in every way."
    ------------

Anyone believe that could apply to Taylor at this point? Lennox Lewis switched to Manny and as you can see, it didn't reap any immediate benefits but he stayed with him and became one of the great heavyweights of all time. It's decision time for Taylor, he's young but still champ, is it too late to start from scratch with a new trainer in the middle of a title run? Steward always takes time with his guys, but the progress just isn't there with Taylor?

I personally believe that he needs to stick with Manny because, well he is pretty much damaged goods at this point having not lost a bout and as evidenced with Lewis who was in much the same predicament, things CAN be turned around. What do you guys think?

No way. Go back to Pat Burns.

Pat loved him like a son & Pat could whip Taylor into shape when he started losing his composure.

The only time they fell apart was during the first Hopkins match...& that's understandable...Taylor wouldn'nt listen to shit.

yeah but Spinks wasn't going to win the decision.

I'm moe disgusted by Merchant and Lampley saying that the fight needs to go to the fighter who's pressing the fight.

    But this is BOXING!!!

    This isn't a toughman competition.

Boxing is an art of hit and not get hit. I can understand if they want more exciting fights but what they are asking is for there to be no strategy involved, just move forward and throw punches and you get the fight because you're making it.

What they fail to realise is that its as difficult coming forward throwing shots its even moe difficult placing your shots to counter punch.

They want WARS, because wars get ratings. But them saying the rules of boxing should be changed and scoring that the fighter who comes forward all night trying to make the fight gets it, that gets rid of "ring generalship" and "defense" and also "clean effective punching"

Then any bum can come off the street and get picked apart round by round but still get the fight because he's coming forward

Is anyone else disturbed by this shit they are talking?

    They..disgust me!!!!

It would be a hell of a mental edge for Pavlik or whoever the opponent is if the champion changed trainers. And Steward has the capability to turn him around which is why I brought Lewis up, because that predicament Lewis was in is eerily similar to Taylor's dilemma.

It just sucks that I saw him spark out one of my favorite fighters at the time in Daniel Eduard (such a big fan I don't think I got the name right), and KO all those guys on FNF and now....he's stale.

Taylor aint been the same since the Hopkins fights And Hopkins who gets most of his predictions right said he would ruin Taylor if they fought twice

Since those two fights Taylor hasn't looked the same

    Nope

    he just got beat tonight

Did I hear Lennox Lewis say that Miranda can hit with "every" hand?

Tonight was one of those nights were you can't hate the guy who won even though you wanted him to lose. Still, his forehead was marked up. Pavlik can't fight like that all the damn time...

As I watched JT fight I couldn't help it but think what a waste of talent.

In the sense that he could def. be sooo mucher better in the ring. He could be so much more exciting but hes content with just getting by and fighting at whatever pace is good enough to get by.

So young soo much talent and hes pissing 'em away. IMO....

and all this anti-boxer talk comes 2 weeks after lampley dropped loads all over floyd mayweathers performance

also corrales should have had a 21 bell salute

EXCELLENT POINT Sal,didn't Floyd box like this v Oscar and was getting adored for it,now it's shocking etc for Spinks to do it? I respected JT alot for fighting 2 HOF but his last 2 performances have been dire. It's not just Manny, you can't just blame the trainer. Manny is not telling him not fight,it's JT too. JT is showing a lack of desire. I've seen him state numerous times that he doesnt want to be in boxing long and wants to make as much $$$ as possible. Are we seeing a lack of desire from that? Also, this reflects badly on B Hop the second time and Winky. Spinks did as well as both of them agains a very limited fighter imo. JT v Calazghe needs to happen,JC would beat the living shit out of this kid, show Winky and B Hop how it is done.

Kidos to Pavlik too. I like Miranda and predicted him to win but I also stated that it was not as easy as most claimed and i stated that Kelly had the tools to beat Miranda. I just didn't think he would be able to do it in such a manner. He's to high risk, low reward for JT,may be he should go after Abraham?
