About 8 months ago at work, there was a guy that worked in our warehouse that had only been working there 2 weeks. But on the way to work he was in a motorcycle accident and lost his leg at the scene..
Everyone at work had heard about it by the next day so we all collected money and did a couple of things to raise money for him to fly both his parents over from the other side of Australia.. Because he'd just moved to my our state and didn't have anyone here.
It was really cool, and our company paid for accomodation for them for a weeks while he was in hospital.
That was great that the whole company put together for him even though none of us knew him. Now he's working in our office a couple of times a week because he can't work in the warehouse.
Our company could have just forgot about him like some companies would but they've looked after him heaps..
It doesn't take much of your time or money really to do something, but it makes a huge difference to the people on the receiving end.
standing ovation bro and CC 64!
Thanks bro!!

This is actually a huge difference to my girlfriends dads story. About 12 years ago he lost his hand in a machine at his workplace. An accident that actually happened AT work. On a machine that he'd complained about over and over and even written a letter about... That workplace spent about $150,000 in court fee's arguing that they didn't have obligation to pay this guy anyyyy compensation. They could have just given the $150,000 to him, but they figured if they just battled it out this time, if it ever happened again, they'd already have one winning case on their side, and wouldn't be sued a second time for nothing... He ended up getting a VERY small pay out which was useless because ever since he has struggled to find any place to work.. And the business wanted nothing more to do with him after his accident... That's a bad example!

Our business though made every effort to do things they didn't even need to like pay for this guys parents to stay in our city close to him. They made a position available in the office for when he was fit to return to work, which they certainly didn't have to do any of it, becuase it happened on the way to work... It feels good to work for a company like that,,,, where their is more to life than the bottom line dollar...

They're are just f'cked people out there, and great people out there.... Thumbs up again to all the good folk on here!!
