I gotta say fuck calzhage.
Yes Kessler needs to step up and challenge a proper fighter, maybe ManFRODO "the Hobbit" before he can get a shot at Calzaghe![]()
Joe is ducking.....does Kessler need to start fighting stiffs to get the attention needed?....follow in Joe C's footsteps perhaps?...Joe is hoping for kessler to lose(don't see it happening) so he can then say "He's not worthy of fighting for my BS title"......Joe is quickly falling down my list....FAST...Originally Posted by TheBESTP4P

Never beg a 40 dollar hooker...specially after she's just turned down your mom's credit card!!
In the end...Joe has a great point...let Kess fight maybe two more fights on U.S. telee.Originally Posted by THE Bigragu

Honestly...I woulda loved to have seen the RJJ fight come off...but Johnson would be a fantastic fight for Kessler...but it's near closing time to fit the Calzaghe deal.

I love Joe as a fighter, but if he doesn't fight Kessler now, I can't see it happening, JC has MAYBE 2 fights left in him, before his hands are completely destroyed and beyond repair.Originally Posted by wacko3205
If I was kessler, I would take over the rest of the SMW division, take the ring rankings and work my way down OR
if fighting JC was that important, take on Calzaghe's "Career Defining Win" fights, and try to win more convincingly than Joe did (e.g. Lacy). If Kessler could defeat Lacy convincingly, that would completely nullify Calzaghe's number 1 at 168 for me.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
Kessler- WBA,WBC Champion
Joe-WBO Champion
I dont think its up to Joe to dictate at this point
Not to mention Kessler has only 4 fewer Pro Fights, but is 7 years younger
So far in this thread, I've only seen ONE opinion defending Calzaghe for what amounts to a "blatant ducking" of Kessler. So, let me add my voice to the majority.
Haven't seen much of Calzaghe, but I did see the Manfredo fight. And like many other boxing fans, I'm sitting here with my arms crossed waiting for Calzaghe to have a REAL fight against a REAL opponent, so he can justify his undefeated record and his lofty status on p4p lists. Until then, I'm completely skeptical. And by talking about Kessler fighting a few more fights, sounds like the scared rabbit everyone is making him out to be. On the other hand, I did see Kessler's last fight against Andrade and came away TOTALLY impressed. So Calzaghe..... PUT UP OR SHUT UP!!
Calzaghe has had plenty of live opponents & honestly...you need to see more than just two or three Calzaghe fights to pass judgement...don't mean that as harsh as it sounded...but that is the reality of the matter. Before condemning a fighter to the depths that most lable Calzaghe...you HAVE TO see his other fights.Originally Posted by TitoFan

First it was Warren saying "Well we offered them the European TV rights and that MIGHT be worth......."
Now its Joe saying "Id like to see him get a couple more fights"
Whats next?
"The dog ate my title"![]()
Be that as it may, wacko... and I don't pretend to be the most knowledgeable about Calzaghe by any stretch of the imagination.... isn't it true that a true fighter should be chomping at the bit and ready to fight the best out there? And isn't it true that fighters should give fans the fights that they REALLY want? If so, where does Calzaghe get off saying that Kessler needs "a few more fights"? Sounds like an excuse to me, and until Calzaghe fesses up and calls out Kessler, my opinion remains unchanged. Remember, boxing needs every great bout it can get nowadays, and we can't afford for fighters to be pussy-footing around protecting unblemished records, which IMO is what Joe seems to be doing. Whether he admits to it or not, Calzaghe-Kessler is the next fight fans want to see, and all the hemming and hawing in the world isn't going to change that.
He knows how to duck aswell Joe is a hypocrite he fights the the bum off contender who had no good wins but fights him in a second but he won't fight number 2 some say number 1 in his own division uhh something smells fishy here and Wacko your saying let Kessler fight few more times well knowing Calzaghe he will prolly fight a bum do his hands in and retire this needs to happen now any real boxing fan knows Kessler don't need any more wins he is great fighter and has proved it and Calzaghe im sorry to say is ducking Kessler.Originally Posted by amat
