The first film was really very good.

As per usual with Stallone, he clearly has a limited range and few ideas as he just takes a movie franchise and then gets ridicilous about it (I mean, Rocky IV and Rambo III were both among the worst films I have ever seen in my life - absolute crap)

The problem with this type of thing is also that politics change. I recall Rambo fighting alongside the nice friendly Mujahideen who were clearly the good guys struggling for their little country against the mighty Red Army. I remember Rambo fighting for their freedom from the evil big country foreign invaders. Now that they have booted the Russians out and turned into Al-Quaeda, and now WE are the evil big country foreign invaders in Afghanistan (!).

Didn't really catch the 'plot' of the new film, but it looked a bit like Vietnam ....... I suspect that's a bit easier in this political day and age and they don't want the Rambo brand being politicised by being associated with Iraq, or Sudan, Bosnia, Kuwait etc.

Ol' Sly must really need the money to pay for his steroid convictions

ho hum.
