I don't know about comparing one country to another - so I'm not going to try but overall I agree with Lyle.
I think training a long way from home or in another gym can be beneficial. Teaches you some things you won't learn at home and gives you a different perspective rather than just taking one coaching philosophy as pure gospel.
It can also be confusing and depending on where you're from and where you go the culture shock might factor in as a plus or a minus depending on the individual. I'm an Australian, spent a year training in Japan and found it both good and bad.
