I never considered Tito's chin to be as bad as some think. The only time he was hurt was against Hopkins and that was an acumulation of punches and fatigue after a grulling 10 rounds (He first showed signs of being hurt in the 10th)
Lets take a good look at some of the guys Tito fought who didn't hurt him.
Campas was 56-0 with 50 KOs Now he might have been fighting stiffs from his home town but we all know how tough those mexicans are and to have that many KOs is no small feat. He knocked down Tito with a short left hook and Tito got up at 3 and came back to destroy Campas in the 4th.
Oscar de la Hoya. His power might have diminished once he reached the Welterweight division and he was not exactly looking to KO Tito but he hit Tito with a hard 4 punch combo in the 5th(if I remember correctly) that would probably put most of todays WWs to sleep and Tito just walked straight through it like it was nothing.
Fernado Vargas. 20 - 0 with 18 KOs and considered a fierce punchers in the division at the time. Tito went to a full fledged 12 round war with Vargas and the only time he was in trouble was when he got unintentionally thumbed in the eye. Vargas dropped Tito but again Tito got up very quickly and did not seem hurt at any time of this fight.
William Joppy Not exactly a big puncher but a full fledged Middleweight title holder with over 20 KOs. Tito's first fight as MW and Joppy's punches did absolutely nothing to Tito.
Ricardo Mayorga One of the most fiered punchers at the time Tito again went straight to him, took his best shots and tottally out gunned Mayorga.
Cc.. I would have said mostly the same..
Trinidad has a good chin! ALOT better then hearns'
And his boxing skill and lateral movement is one of the most underrated feat's in any fighter..
Alot of people take trinidad lightly..
Trinidad as an amatuer won 5 national titles at 5 weight classes.. Had 80 odd wins with only 15 knockouts... So if he wasnt knocking out all these guys.. The what was he doing? Boxing
