He isn't ready for Diaz yet, but I'd say he's on his way. He's green still though which is something I don't think his brother is. I think LG was right about the jab versus the southpaw being the thing. I don't think the jab would have gone a long way in setting up the punches and since the other guy was loading up on straight shots, it was probably the right move. I don't think the guy was short notice though, I'm pretty sure it's been scheduled for a while. I liked the short punching though, I really did. And he had good spacing for his punches, I liked it. He fell in with the right hand a little bit sometimes, but he would do the right thing and step back a little bit and keep punching.
Jose did pretty good though. I was scepticle of his record, but he is really a relentless guy, and in the first round he caught Peterson flush.
Considering he knew nothing about Cruz and he was a southpaw, I thought he did good. Still work to do but it's encouraging to see them taking the gradual steps up. Lamont stole the show though. He looked awesome. I wouldn't mind seeing him take on someone like Rogelio Casteneda.
