The bottom line is dollars and cents. PBF cant make much against a fighter who, outside of us die hard fans, is not very popular with the average sports fan. A Mosley fight is a PPV. A Hatton fight is a PPV. Even a Judah rematch (please, no!) is a PPV. A Margarito fight is not, and PPV is where the money is.
Good points but I slightly disagree with something. Floyd will never be as big a ppv draw as Oscar but he doesn't have to. Most of Roy's fights were ppv and Jones never sold nearly as many ppvs as Oscar, nor did he fight household names. Roy wasn't as huge as Oscar, but he was big enough to make profits for ppv fights, and that's how Floyd has now become. Roy vs. Julio Gonzales was ppv for crying out loud, and this is at a point where Roy was being criticized for not trying to end fights, but merely satisfied with winning boring lopsided decisions. I'm not so sure Oscar will want to fight Mayweather, because Oscar can get $15 million for whoever he fights, it's not money with him, it's legacy, and losing to Floyd would crush his legacy. Don't be surprised if Mayorga is his last fight.
