    Default Calzaghe- Kessler

Would this draw in the States ? Calzaghe IMO would batter Jermaine Taylor who I think is terribly overrated. The Kessler fight is the only one out there apart from maybe Hopkins or Jones which def wouldent happen. Not sure if that would get big publicity in the States though.

Ok, I very nearly started a topic on this one but figured people are sick of hearing about Joe and his escapades to find a 'super' fight.

I have a theory about Calzaghe-Kessler and why Joe doesn't want the fight yet.

Joe wants to break America, but can't draw there at all because out of his 43 fights, Lacy & Manfredo are the only fighters the casual fan can recognise that he's beaten. So, knowing full well that a loss to Kessler will pretty much demolish any chance he has of breaking America, rather than risk it, he wants to establish himself in the boxing capital of the world before risking all against the dangerous Dane. Hence why he wants Taylor & B-Hop first.

Just my theory...if you disagree, I will respect you're right to be wrong

I would defenatly want to see it over Calzaghe vs Taylor. I agree Jermain would get beat easy . The only question is Joes hands. I see no reason he wouldnt beat all the mentioned fighters in your post.

yeh gota agree bzkfn, calzaghe wants a couple of big american names first, as u stated then with his profile take on kessler which could go either way. Then if he beats kessler go to light heavy, retire undefeated two weight hall of famer, thats the plan any way

To answer your question, no. It would not draw fans in America. But who cares? They'd fight in Wales or Denmark anyway--and it would draw huge fans in either of those places. It would not be a PPV fight here (the US) though--it would be a free HBO WCB fight. Calzaghe-Taylor would probably get sold as a PPV in the states, but it would not sell well at all given how horrifically bad Taylor has been to watch recently (and the fact that Calzaghe is just not a big name here).

I don't care where kessler beats calzagne. In Denmark or Wales they would prolly draw enormous crowds, but here in the states it prolly won't. But it would be better if they fought here so there is no home crowd advantage for either one of them.

ooh by the way taylor is not overated, calzagne is and calzagne will not beat taylor no way

Well the saga continues, I just read that Calzaghe and Warren have accepted to fight in Copenhagen. Warren said this to the danish paper BT. Its on the frontpage, and Mogens Palle confirms he have received something from Warren.

    Maybe this is it.

The original article can be found here (in Danish though):

    http://www.bt.dk/article/20070530/SPORT08/70530003/0/A

The main point here is that Frank Warren has told the newspaper that they are willing to accept Palle and Kessler's original offer (5m $ and a fight in Copenhagen in Spetember). Palle confirms that Warren has send an offer, but is unwilling to tell anything about it, saying that this needs to be looked upon by their lawyers and that he doesn't know how this will end up.

Bear in mind that BT is not the most credible of newspapers and that there are very few informations present in the article. It has been picked up by the entire Danish press today though, but the original source remains the above linked article.

Oh, and of course people should remember that this might very well just be the latest mediastunt in this ongoing series of bulls*** and that any information must be treated _very_ lightly.

For the big Joebowski...I don't think the Kessler fight is right for him. He has the right idea going after the Americans first. He needs to cement his name, then fight Kessler.

And I personally wonder if Team Palle has the finance to pull this through. Last time they nearly went bankrupt in order to get Marcus Bayer to Copenhagen. Since they offered Calzaghe 5million dollars I would assume that Kessler also should have 5million dollars. I dont a boxing fight in Denmark generate that kind of money.

But I will get a ticket to Support the fight if it comes to that
