Warren needs to pull his fucking finger out and get Joe a decent fight. I'm sick of reading about it.

You and every other boxing fan in the world. For once, I think that Kessler's home advantage would be slightly diminished as opposed to all his other fights, cause I could see quite a few people from Britain making the journey over there to support Calzaghe, so the more balanced the crowd the better.Originally Posted by thewhale
All I know is Joe better sign something soon, or Kess is gonna sign a fight with Jones Jr, and Taylor is gonna sign a fight with Pavlik. Then Joe gets screwed and fights a can of corn, because I doubt he will be able to sign a fight with the BHOP-Winky winner. Unless of course, he wants to come to the states, and probably settle for less money.
I'll believe it when I see it. The pounds very strong at the moment though, don't think $5m can get you much in britain nowadays.
Really, they should stop making these offers through the media and get together and sort the fucking small print out.
I'd back Calzaghe home or away on UD, he has a lot of confidence and won't be daunted wherever it's held. I think this is the only real available fight for him at the moment, to many question marks on Taylor.
I don't think he was saying he was. He said if Joe puts on a smilar performance, Kessler won't stand a chance.Originally Posted by jangeorg
CC bro, we don't get many references to the currency exchange rates on this forum, and that is to be commended! I'd be with you on Calzaghe's UD, but I reckon Kessler could get worn out and maybe Calzaghe would get a late stoppage, as Kessler's failure to catch him with the big punches tires the Dane out. But then again, I wouldn't bet against a flash knockdown, but Calzaghe's got up and won before.Originally Posted by Bomp
It appears a lot of people on here are either new to boxing or haven't followed Calzaghe's career as closely as others. To see he'll get knocked out is nonsense. His chin is too solid and his heart will make him get back up even if it's a flash knockdown. Trust me he'll keep coming at you and he's got more ring generalship savvy than your average Andrade or Mundine. They only chance Kessler has of winning is a dodgy points decision or if Calzaghe injures his hand mid-fight.
Unfortunately I believe this will be the case. I read Calzaghe's autobiography this week and it appears his problems with his hands go further than what most people might think. He's had hand injuries going into a fight or during them more than if they were a 100% it appears. It's clear from the manfredo fight which lasted only 3 rounds how brittle they are. When all is said and done Calzaghe is a far better fighter/boxer than Kessler and I hope for all our sakes it's proved without complication. No offence to Kessler fans but he's just a supped up version of Mario Veit in my opinion - Tailor-made for Calzaghe.
Calzaghe has got a rock solid chin, only had a couple of flash knock downs and he's got back up and destroyed them! To say Kessler would knock him out, remember Lacy woz supposed to be one of the biggest punchers p4p look what happened there.
Have faith gona be a Calzaghe would stop him with a late TKO.
dont Fuck with the chuck
The one difference I will point to with this one is that Kessler is significantly faster than Lacy was, so I'd reckon that will cause Calzaghe some problems. The reason Lacy never knocked out Calzaghe was because he never managed to catch him flush with that famed left hook of his. Calzaghe has a very good chin, but getting up after a knockdown against Kabary Salem and Byron Mitchell is different to the power packed by Kessler and Lacy. If he gets caught flush, it will be the biggest test of that chin, but I still think Calzaghe gets it by a UD or late TKO.Originally Posted by gudnite vienna
I don't believe for a second that Joe Calzaghe will go to Denmark for this fight. A fight with Jermain Taylor is still far more likely. And if he fights Kessler ever, he's not going to agree to do it in Copenhagen. he's never left his back yard his whole career--there's absolutely no way he'll do it for a fight that's not in Vegas against someone who generates US PPV buys.
he has left the uk twice, and one of those times was to fight in Copenhagen so wtf are you on aboutOriginally Posted by shza

Once against Veit who he had already blown out in 1 round and against Will McIntyre both of these fights had no risk involved.Originally Posted by Preme

Fine, I stand corrected. In 43 professional fights, he's left the UK exactly two times. Both, as Ice Cold points out, against tomato cans--and his one fight in Copenhagen wasn't even against a Dane (or a European at all, for that matter). If you see that as precedent for him leaving the UK to fight Kessler in Denmark--on the heels of Palle saying repeatedly that they'd come to the UK for the fight anyway--be my guest.Originally Posted by Preme
