Another problem with changing the rules and making fighters wear the same gloves, is the chosen uniform glove might suit one fighter more than the next. Now one fighter is forced into being at a disadvantage. These boxers know all about the different gloves, and to what styles the gloves are suited. Zab chose the gloves that would contribute to his best possible performance considering the circumstances, and Mayweather chose the gloves that he knew would contribute to his best performance.
Look how hard it is to get fights to happen these days... now lets add in another obstacle and make boxers and sluggers agree on a pair of gloves.
I think it's fine, as long as both fighters have the same choices.
*And Mayweather was at a disadvantage because Judah's gloves were far too small and compact.
... there is no argument here because both fighters had equal opportunity to choose Winnings or whatever Judah was using. There are offensive advantages to having small gloves. So they had their advantages. Mayweather defensively somewhat, Judah offensively somewhat.
Perhaps it could have been different if Judah didn't stop fighting, and chose to play defense with offensive gloves.
