Default What does Zab Judah do now??

Yes he lost to Cotto, but as it sounds he gave a lot of heart (my flight got cancelled and i missed the fight ) Could this be a blessing in disguise for Zab, proving to the public and himself that he does have heart thus making him a more marketable fighter?? or is his career over?? do yall think the low blows and headbutts took a lot from Zab and ultimately changing the outcome of the fight?? i'll put my response on later ,but what do yall think??

    • The Sept. 7 season finale of "Friday Night Fights" (ESPN2) will be a big show. It will be 2½ hours instead of two and headlined by Zab Judah, who is wasting no time returning from his memorable 11th-round TKO loss to Miguel Cotto on June 9 in the possible fight of the year. The tripleheader from the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, Miss., a few minutes outside of Memphis, Tenn., also will include a pair of rising prospects, brothers Anthony and Lamont Peterson, who have been ESPN2 mainstays during their rise up the ladder. Opponents aren't set.

He'll do what everyone does after a big loss. He'll beat up on some no-names, and then a year or so from now, he'll be back in another decent fight.

We all know by now that Zab will never be an elite fighter, but he has a big name and a flashy style, so he'll always be able to find fights.

He could always rematch Cotto a year or two down the road. A third fight with Spinks wouldn't shock me either.

    TALK ABOUT NAILING IT!!

Cory Spinks is headed back to 154 pounds, where he holds a title, after an unsuccessful jump to 160 pounds on May 19, when he lost a close decision to middleweight champion Jermain Taylor.

"And we'd be willing to bring Zab [Judah] back to St. Louis for a trilogy. Even though Zab lost (to Miguel Cotto last week), the guy showed more guts than I have seen a lot of fighters show in a long time. He had his moments and he took a lot of punishment. If he didn't have the heart of champion he could have quit, and he didn't."

He can still beat some people, but yeah he's not elite, he's not going to be.

Focused or not, he just makes too many mistakes. With his athletic ability he should really be much harder to hit than he is.

But there are fights out there for him. He's just not very good against strong pressure fighters that can deal with his punch. Go with the Spinks formula, find somebody where he can press the fight, not have to worry about getting caught. Why not Malignaggi, its New York, I'd favor Judah in that one.

It was interesting to hear that Pernell wants to work with Judah.
I would love to see this.
I think Pernell could help Judah.
As long as Pernell does not introduce Judah to drugs, all will be good.
I know that comment sounds kind of mean but we can not escape the reality of this truth.
Drug addiction is cunning, baffling and powerfull.
Good luck to the both of them if they team up.

They have but it has been a very long time according to Pernell's comments made last night on FNF.

Zab signed with Main Events back in the mid-90's when Pernell was still fighting. Zab, Fernando Vargas, and Gatti all used to work out and train with Pernell.

I feel like Zab needs to change his corner completely to compete at a world championship level..I dont think he comes in with a good game plan and definatley doesn't adjust during the fight...I dont think Yoel Judah is getting the best out of his son....I think his best bet is 1-2 tune ups and go after Spinks...if he wins it will put him right back in the mix.

incredible to schedule a fight so soon after a brutal stoppage. Emanual Steward always said the key for a fighter to recover fully from being knocked out or having a tough fight is to take a 6 months and over rest after being stopped badly. After the Hagler fight Hearns was off for 11 months. Did him well. He seemed to need the rest. Some people think differently but a long rest can also give the fighter a fresher feeling and not have the knockout so clear in his mind.

It is weird to come back so quick after a brutal fight.

Zab has done this before though. After he lost to Spinks (which wasn't a bloody fight but was a loss), he took only a month off and then fought Pineda, and he fought one of the worst fights of his career. Zab was awful that night against Pineda.
