The Alphabet Gangs would not be bad, if-- Fighting another champion counted as a mandatory- then the titles would quickly be unified, and they would stay together until a fighter lost, changed weights, or retired. Then it would be kind of fun watching someone put the belts back together.

Great point, stripping guys of a title when they're trying to unify it is terrible for the sport. It ended up leaving the true WBC champion without a belt, even though I think Cassamyor is an interm now.

But the WBO is very legit and I rank them #2 behind the WBC and ahead of the WBA and IBF

bullsh*t!!!!! how can the WBO have a champ for 8 years with no attempt to unify the belts? The WBC and the WBA are the only true titles....Don King is the IBF...not a world title....need to go back to those 2 titles and make the NABF champ the mandatory #1 challenger! bring the old school back...
It feels good to be back home.

As I remember the WBO was a breakaway from the IBF they had a tiff AH.

yeah it was a breakaway, but it was from the WBA. I think it had to do with a Thomas Hearns/ Fulgencio Obelmejias fight. Tommy was going to fight Obelmejias for his title and Fully got a bruised rib or something, Then something came up and the WBO came out of the WBA and Hearns and Kinchen fought for the first WBO title.

to add to that. I am not sure the WBO came from the Hearns/Obel. problems in how Obel pulled out of the fight. But it was around that time. But the WBO was going to come out anyway.

the wbo has came along way in just the last decade they have or have had cotto, klitchko, hatton, margo, calzaghe, taylor, erdei, roy, hopkins, and many more p4p over the last ten years..

i dont know much about the organization itself but it has alot of exciting boxers and gives european and hispanics no names the first chance to become who they are now... which is good for boxing but of course, champs should be the best, not the future best

I think as a lot of people have said the champ makes the title legit. If say Hatton was the 140 pound Wbo champ it is more legit than when Lovemore Ndou had the IBF belt. Make sense?

Doesnt WBO stand for Warrens Boxing Organization, he seems to have them wrapped around his finger.

It's more about the fight than the stupid belts.

To me at least. Damn belts make us watch boring fights anyways.
