Ya, I agree, there's no reason for this fight to be made, especially from Hatton's point of view. If Hatton wants to take on a welterweight, he's going to go for a bigger payday than Zab can provide.
Zab will likely fight a few easy opponents that he can destroy, and then a year or so down the road, I could see him fighting another NY fighter, like Luis Callazo, maybe even Malignaggi if he ever gets to 147. Those fights would be marketable in NY and would be a good main event for an HBO Boxing After Dark card or a Showtime card.
Exactly bro. I don't see the top tier WW fighting Zab. Maybe the loser of the PW TONY fight may fight him at some point? I like the NY idea too bro,Zab v Paulie/Collazo would be good style match ups
Zab will still be able to get fights and some decent paydays. I've never really thought about someone like the Williams/Margarito loser that you suggested, but that makes sense, I could see it happening. A third fight with Cory Spinks is also a possibility.
Zab's got a big name, he can be in exciting fights when he has an agressive opponent, and he's from New York City, which always helps.
I kinda laugh at the people on the board who are saying "Zab should retire" or "Zab's done." I don't get how Zab should retire, just because he lost to Miguel Cotto. How many fighters out there can beat Cotto at 147? Not many.
Zab has one bad loss, to Baldomir. Other than that, he's lost to Tszyu, Cory Spinks (who he KO'd in the rematch), Floyd Mayweather, and Miguel Cotto. Those are some pretty big names.
And he didn't get embarrassed by either Floyd or Cotto, he was competitive with both of them.
