I like to watch boxers, that doesn't mean I like to watch guys that just concentrate on defense and never throw punches, but Floyd's interesting to watch, except for a fight or two.

But I don't think there's any doubt that boxing would be more popular to the casual fan if more of the fighters were action oriented. Most people just don't have that much interest in sitting through twelve slow paced tactical rounds. A big boxing fan can be entertained by a guy like Floyd even if he's not in an "action fight", but I don't think many casual fans are that blown away by him blocking punches with his shoulder, or jabbing to the body.

Look at MMA. I think most people watching want to see the fighters on their feet throwing punches. The most exciting part of the sport is boxing/kickboxing, and they don't do it nearly as well as boxers. But its shorter, people don't have to sit through 12 rounds, and there's more knockouts, more action.
