What your definition of a fighter having heart?

I know most will say or have been saying that Zab showed a lot of heart against cotto..and that gatti has heart....

but imo i think that gatti showed heart when he broke his hand against ward and kept fighting to a victory..but didn't show "heart" against mayweather because it was just stupid to stand there and constantly absorb punishment...

also i think roy jones showed "heart" in the first tarver fight to fight through tremendous amount of fatigue to the victory...

basically i don't think a fighter shows "heart" when he's doing nothing but absorbing punishment..like zab did...I think a fighter has to over come a major set back during the fight and fight through it win or lose to keep fighting despite the setback is what exemplifies "heart" to me..not to just constantly show that you can absorb punishment...

what do you guys think?

I think if a guy is taking punishment that is more heart than if a guy is taking punishment but dishing it out also. To take a beating and still hang in there is incredible if the fight looks out of reach. At that point a good referee should help the fighter out.

that's not heart that's stupid...gatti didn't show heart against mayweather he was stupid to stand there even though it was hopeless...to just get beat up isn't heart imo..it's just stupid

Maybe it is stupid, but if a fighter just quits people call him a quitter and it ruins his reputation. They hang in there because there is probably hope in their hearts that the opponent who is dishing out the beating will get tired and a punch will land which in turn wins them the fight.
