American boxer Kelvin Davis injured in NZ

In a report from TV3 prior to his fight with Kiwi heavyweight Shane Cameron:

"His American opponent Kelvin Davis is out of action, undergoing surgery after a freak accident on the weekend.

The man known as Little Tyson has a broken back and neck after being given a scare by traffic on Auckland's Greenhite Bridge – causing him to leap off the bridge and fall several metres."

Lets hope he gets through ok. Wow that must have hurt.

Wow. Davis is one of my favorite fighters to watch because he is ALWAYS exciting. He reminds me a bit of the fighter Julian Letterlough just because of the excitement factor even if he doesn't have the best skill. Best wishes to him.

Kelvin Davis breaks back!
Former cruiserweight champion Kelvin "Concrete" Davis was seriously injured this morning while getting ready to fight Shane Cameron on Thursday in Auckland, New Zealand. While doing his morning roadwork, Davis was was forced to jump off a very narrow bridge to avoid a truck that was coming in the same direction. The 25-foot jump caused a broken neck and broken back. At this time, Davis is hospitalized in serious but stable condition. Late replacement for Cameron is Jucimar Hipolito from Brazil.

Thats crazy. Delvis is a nice guy, I wish him the best and a speedy recovery if thats possible with such serious injuries. That truck must have been comin pretty damn fast.

I don't understand why he didn't just hang off the bridge rather than throw himself off?

To be honest and I mean no disrespect to the guy but this smacks of suicide cover up to me.

No it doesn't. IF Davis were to committ suicide he would blow his brains out or crash his car into a tree going very fast, NOT jump off a fukin 25 foot bridge. Thats a small ass bridge to be tryin to jump off and kill yourself, you think he'd at least find a bigger bride if that were the case. Plus Davis has never struck me as the type to even think about suicide. As far as hanging off the bridge goes, WTF? He probably didn't have time, probably looked up just in time to see the truck comin and jumped outta the way. He's a fighter, not Solid Snake from fukin Metal Gear Solid.

That is why I asked if it was still dark. He may not have realized how far he was about to plummet. Was it a bridge over water or a bridge over rocky terrain?

I wish I knew more. All I know for sure is that Mr. Davis is lucky he chose the nickname "concrete" and not "kid dynamite" or "crazy legs."

Holy Sh@t. Kelvin Davis is one of those guys you always tune in to watch fight cause he always comes to fight and can end a fight with one punch. I hope he makes a solid recovery although I doubt he will fight again. He just recenly ha a fight that I thought was the best heavyweight fight in a couple years vs. Terry Smith.
