Mayweather Ready To Silence ’The Hitman’
It seems that Ricky ’The Hitman’ Hatton’s comments about Floyd Mayweather Jnr following his destruction job on Jose Luis Castillo last weekend have tempted the pound for pound king out of retirement.
Only last month Mayweather Jnr announced he was retiring following his points win over Oscar De La Hoya but now his advisor Leonard Ellerbe has confirmed Mayweather is willing to face Britain’s No.1 fighter
Speaking to the New York Daily News, Ellerbe said: "He(Hatton) got Floyd’s attention. Now we’re calling his bluff,
"All he has to do is make a deal and he’ll have his chance to back up all that talk. All that’s standing between him and Floyd is air and opportunity.
"We can make the deal this week. He’s very, very disrespectful. He’s trying to promote himself off Floyd’s name.
"When we make the deal, we’ll show the world why he’s the most overrated fighter of this decade.
"Floyd has never taken any fight personally. But he’s taking this personally. Floyd is going to kick his butt.
"He said he only wants to fight the best - then sign the contract. Floyd’s going to show all his fans in Britain just what a phoney he is."
Mayweather had previously shown little interest in facing the British born fighter but all that changed the moment Hatton said there was more excitement in his four rounds with Castillo last weekend than in all Mayweather’s 38 previous fights put together.
