The de la hoya of today is a tougher opponent than Hatton. Seriously, to think otherwise, you'd have to pick Hatton in a head-to-head versus De la Hoya. You wouldn't possibly do that, would you? You'd be in a tiny minority if so.

Just so we're clear, "but De la Hoya is way bigger than Hatton" is not a valid response--it only supports the point that for little Floyd Mayweather, De la Hoya was way more of a threat than Hatton would be.

Also, De La Hoya didn't "throw away" anything--he was losing from round 1 on.
I wouldn't even pick Hatton over Mayorga at welter or 154.
