Gatti is well shot, but he still boxed fairly well and landing a lot of hard punches on Carlos, like someone said Baldomir just has an anvil for a head and outlasted him. I don't think Gomez will take Gatti's punches, and he certainly doesn't have the better skills, no matter how faded Arturo really is. I also don't think Gomez lasting 5 rounds on an edited TV show against Ishe smith is any sort of accolade.
Actually Baldimor has only a single impressive name on his record, and that was the woefully inconsistent, ill prepared and undertrained Zab Judah. He should have lost to Joshua Clottey and apart from Gatti I couldn't even name any of his other opponents.

And Gomex didn't fight Ishe Smith on the Contender, he fought him in his second professional fight at 2 days notice.

He's handled much bigger guys like Manfredo and Brinkley both whom are now campaigning at super middleweight.

Whether you rate Manfredo or not the fact remains he was still top 10 world ranked before the Contender show and ranked high enough afterwards to get a world title shot against Calzaghe.

I've got great faith in Alfonso and reckon he has enough to beat a faded Gatti down the stretch.
