I'm in BROOKLYN,NYC...i want to fight on an amatuer level...i'm 23 going on 24....can i actually turn this into a career at this time in my life?

well anyway this site is great....i'm thinking about GLEASON's gym or Church Street Boxing....any recommendations or advice?.....

Gleasons used to be good,dont know about now,BHOP didnt have his first pro fight until 22,and other fighters who were at least servicable started even later

Let us know what you see,and how you feel,every gym has a tendency towards dogmatism,there might be parts your not comfortable with

I'll be honest with you, probably not. But why should you let that stop you from trying?

Get in the gym, give it your all, and see what happens.

Gleasons' fuckers (pardon me.... trainers) charge hourly on top of membership dues. So fuck 'em, I say.

Go to a small hole in the wall gym that nobody knows. Chances are you'll get free mitts. If you're good, the trainers will find YOU.

Beyond that, stay in school, kid. It's a tough way to make a living.
