As of yet cotto has showed almsot no interest in fighting mayweather - if he wnats him why isnt he calling him out? he does't have toslag him off and get into a verbal war like ahtton has, but there is no reason why he can't come out in public and call mayweather out, or question him fornot taking the fight - hell he just whooped a guy like no one whooped him before, mayweather couldn't finish him inside the distance, had some shakey moments - but cotto has kept queit on the subject of a mayweather fight.Originally Posted by TitoFan
This has nothing to do with me not liking or respecting Hatton. In reality, I both like and respect him. He's a classy guy, in and out of the ring. But truth be told.... I dislike his fighting style. I think if he fought with a ref with enough balls to call his clinching and mauling tactics, things might be a little different.Originally Posted by Fire

I see your point, Rookie Fan. And a well-made point it is. However, I'm gonna play devil's advocate and question whether in fact Floyd-Hatton would be the biggest money fight right now. It all depends, doesn't it? It depends, for instance, on where the fight is made. If you make it in England, of course it will make huge money. If you make it in Vegas, maybe Margarito would be bigger. And if it was made in Madison Square Garden, what bigger fight than PBF-Cotto?Originally Posted by The Rookie Fan
You gotta look at it this way TitoFan. Floyd is at a point right now where he doesn't really belong to any particular division. He can fight anybody from 140 - 154 with no problem of making weight. Hatton just happends to be the biggest name in that weight range. He might not be the best fighter but he is the biggest name and he just had a big win (even if it was against a badly worn and slow Castillo).
I agree with pretty much everything else. I said it once in another thread. Of all the guys he could have fought (Mosley, Cotto, Margarito, Spinks, Clottey, heck even Tito was mentioned as a possibility). Hatton is IMHO the easiest fight for Floyd, especially if it is at 147. And, with the possible exception of Tito or a rematch with DLH, Hatton is by far the biggest money fight for Floyd.
If I can change the subject a little, Does anybody have any clue what the hell is Shane Mosley doingHere is a guy that should be without a doubt the 147 king and all these big fights going on around him and he's just standing there letting opportunity slip by him. WAKE UP SHANE AND TELL YOUR BOY DLH THAT YOU ARE NOT A SPARRING PARTNER AND YOU WANT A BIG NAME FIGHT NOW BEFORE TIME CATCHES UP WITH YOU.
And for the die-hard fight fan, of which I consider myself included, a PBF fight with either Cotto or Margarito at 147 would be more competitive and more fan-friendly than a fight between Floyd and Hatton at 147. And if Floyd gets lured into a fight with Hatton at 140, particularly in England, he's playing with fire.
first.. hatton has been a ring p4per for two years cotto just made it to 10th a month ago margo, mosely isnt even ranked...
second..hatton-mayweather at wembley is far bigger than cotto-mayweather at MSG.....hatton is obviously bigger name than cotto right now or we would be on the cotto-mayweather thread...
el gamo said a good explanation hasnt been made for hatton-mayweather... was you saying the same about Dlh
you might not like or respect hatton but p4p top 10 for two years and highest rated ring fighter that mayweather has to face currently is reason enough.... to all the nonbiased boxing fans... not saying he would beat PBF,Cotto, or margo but saying the hatton isnt even fight worthyi wouldnt b*tch and moan if cotto or margo got a shot at mayweather, they are justifiable compitition... so is hatton
Your point on DLH is invalid. DLH may not have been p4p #2 at the time of the Floyd fight but (and I hate to admit this, as I'm not a DLH fan) he's by FAR a bigger name than Hatton is or will be in any conceivable future. Thus, the huge draw.
And the fact remains..... Floyd is supposedly on this quest to be a "legend." Hey legend, there's some good and dangerous fighters in your OWN damn division that you haven't even bothered to take a second look at. Deal with them, and THEN go on your little quest for immortality.
