Calling it the deepest class since the 1970's right now is an absolute joke. The 90's had much better fighters than the 00's (Now there's just Wlad and he has no competition except for his brother and some respectable fighters who are getting older). People with 25-2 records today are a joke (owen beck anyone?). Now, if you look out on the horizon there are a lot of good up and comers which could lead to a very very interesting heavyweight picture in the near future.
With wlad only being 30 you'd have to assume he's got atleast 6-7 more years left in him (Vitali might even stay around for that period of time depending on injuries but 7 is the absolute max for him). There's a large amount of up and coming fighters who are more active than the boring slobs of today (ruiz and his jab and grab will be a thing of the past as well as valuev's freak show aspect) and a majority of them have high ko ratios suggesting they have a lot of power. Calling it the best since ali right now is a bit premature but in a few years, you'll have a very solid case.
