Gomez is better than you credit. He's done well against some quality opposition, not the bum you are making him out to be.
He's done good against ordinary competition and has never faced anyone close to the skill level that I thought Gatti still had. His fight on the Contender challenge, he just looked like such an ordinary fighter. I know he's not a bum, he's a good fighter but he isn't someone who should be beating up on Gatti. Either Gatti digressed even worse then he was against Baldomir or Gomez is A LOT better then I thought he was.

I'll have to hold judgement until I see the fight but yeah...
What level do you think Gatti is at? I can't remember him ever beating a name fighter.

His pinnacle was a trilogy with Mickey Ward which to be fair is about equal to Gomez's trilogy with Feliciano.

Arturo Gatti (40-8, 31 ko's) vs Alfonso Gomez (16-3-2, 7 ko's) Round 7: Gatti moving & jabbing. Gomez cracks his ass again. Body shots & two rights from Gomez. Body shot buckles Gatti. Double right & Gomez is about to KO Gatti. Gatti eating uppers & everything. Gomex hammering him. Lef thook from Gatti. Gomez all over him. Stop this fight. Gomez hammering him with right & left hooks. Gatti just covering & about to get TKO’d. 6 punches from Gomez. Down goes Gatti on a right! It’s over.

    Gomez knockout!
    Total shut out.

That was hard work watching that. I really like Gomez and thought he'd knock Gatti out, he was a bad choice of opponant.

    Very sad thought.

What I don't understand about these commentators...why don't they tell it like it is.

"Gomez is just a hell of a fighter!"

    No...Gatti is just fucking DONE!!!

    Keep it real

I thought they could have stopped the fight a little earlier, but it is Gatti's hometurf. He was just covering up like a turtle letting Gomez hit him over and over

He's still a good boxer, who has wins over a lot better fighters then Gomez. I know he isn't known for his pure boxing ability, but he would put out Gomez easily if he was just a glimmer of his former self.

He's the guy who sparked Dorin in 2 and completely outboxed Jesse James Leija. And Mickey Ward is 10 times the fighter Feliciano is, come on now.

Still, Gatti lost so I had to be wrong on something here. Now it really is time for Gatti to go. GO.

I thought Harold Letterman was kind, giving Gatti even one round. In actuality, it was a total shutout.

Ah well at least I won my sig bet with Punisher. Gatti is way beyond done, but credit to Gomez he put on a great performance, most of you cats are underestimating him.

Hoepfully he'll get the shot against Chavez Jr now instead and if so my money is on the Mexican without the famous daddy.
