I lost $$$ on the fight (bet on Tony) . I thought that there would be a good chance that the untested Williams would be dragged into deepwaters & drowned by the gritty Margarito. Hey, that's the chance u take if ur gonna bet.

But the truth is he (Tony) was outhustled in the fight. He had a few good rounds & did some good body work. But Williams won more that 6 of the 12 rounds IMO. That's winning the fight.

He's got a bad taste in his mouth because he lost alot of $$$ with the Cotto fight goin down the tubes.

I also bet on Gomez (@+170) so the night wasn't lost for me.

He had his chance in the 12th to get a gift draw, but couldn't come through. He needs to man up and go back to the drawing board.

I also scored it 7 - 5 in favor of Williams. There is no doubt Williams did his part but I also saw that Williams did a while lot of punching and holding as well. Half way through the fight the referee finally decided to address to holding situation and the climate of the fight changed in Margarito's favor. I just wonder had he done this in the 3rd round if things might have been different since Williams tired down the stretch? He kept warning Williams that he was going to deduct a point but never did for close o 6 rounds. In my opinion the referee had no control of the fight and that greatly benefited Williams. Kudos to Williams for sticking tom his hit and hold strategy ..... a new John Ruiz is born.Which brings me back to a prior post if excessive holding is cheating ? ( I guess not if the referee ignores it ) But Margarito was not robbed he just never envisioned the challenger getting the fight climate tilted in his favor. It was nice to see a boxing match and not have announcers influencing my view with their comments..

How many warning does a boxer get after a deduction warning ?

Tony is bitter. Tony said he was robbed.

    Comments by Tony:

"I think some one told Paul Williams that all he had to do was go the distance with me and you will become the new champion."

"Goosen must have a lot power in this business."

He really said some very negative things about Goosen.

    More..

"You people saw the fight, he was not landing every shot. I blocked a lot of those punches. Look at my face and look at his. All those lies he said that occured in the gym, never happend. Look at his face. Who is the one that got cut?"

Margarito said he would like a rematch but not under Dan Goosen promotions.

Paul Williams had nothing but nice things to say about Margarito.
    Whats your opinion about it?

Margarito is proving himself to be a whiner like Winky Wright at the Taylor fight (which I felt the draw was well deserved and if not, leaned towards Taylor winning it). Paul Williams put it on him and won the first 8 or 9 rounds easy. Margarito did win a couple after that but he clearly needed a knockout to win and wasnt gonna get it. He got his ass kicked, plain and simple; yet he thinks he was robbed? What a complainer. You should sac up and admit it when you lose a fight, especially one that he so obviously lost. This made me like A.Margarito less, unfortunately.

There is no way he can compare to Wright after the Taylor fight. Most people actually feel that Wright won that. And if they don't, almost no one thinks that Taylor won.

Margarito might feel he did more damage to Williams. He might feel he hurt Williams more but the fight went to the cards and when it goes to the cards it is a matter of rounds won versus rounds lost and there is no feasable way that Margarito won. At the very most, he won 5 rounds. He lost 7 rounds clearly.

There were a couple close rounds, but Williams clearly won more rounds, I scored it 8 rounds to 4 and I gave the 9th to Tony which could have easily been Paul's.

Sorry Tony, you made for a good fight but there is no way you won.
