Gotta laugh at this thread, some people are about to look very silly indeed. We had a similar thread over at Hatton's forum, so our very own Jimmy G Force simply phoned Ray and asked him about it. This is what he said...
Hope that clears things up." That's what peees me off about giving some interviews, the words you say can be taken completely out of context.
Floyd has made no secret of the fact that he wants to fight at 147lbs, we have already accepted the fight from our end, and we will fight him anywhere in America, Central Park in a telephone box if we have to. We will say this now, and we hope that people understand what we are saying. Ricky Hatton will be fighting at welterweight, but Ricky will come into the fight as a light-welterweight because thats his best fighting weight, and we dont want to compromise his speed. The ball now lies in Mayweather's court, if he wants the fight, we are ready. "
"And a little footnote, does anybody realise Ricky Hatton came in half a stone lighter against Castillo than he ever has ? He usually comes in between 154 to 156lbs, Ricky came in at 149lbs, and thats his weight from now on. At one stage during training Ricky was at 9 stone 13. This was due to the fact he only had 8 weeks out of the gym after the Urango fight, and instead of having to spend the first four weeks cutting weight, he started straight on the weights, and we all saw the results."
"The Collazo fight was a disaster on all counts, we all got it very wrong, it was a suicidal move, that we all hold our hands up to, and something we have learnt alot from. We put the weight on in the wrong way, we had a very turbulent and short training camp, and Ricky won that fight on heart. "
" Ricky is flying out to Tenerife with his girlfriend to meet up with Jamie Moore and his family, then he is off to Barcelona or Marbella for a short break, then he will be back in the gym for 3 days a week to tick over. He will start full training in the first week of August for a fight in November or early December. He will look even sharper and stronger again as he will only have had 8 weeks out of the gym as he did after Urango. " concluded Ray.

I'm very disappointed in Hatton. If you are going to talk trash about a guy, you've got to accept his challenge when he makes it. I still think his relentless mauling style would give Floyd problems, but he needs to sack up ad go to 147. How does Hatton expect to get big fights anyone will care about unless he goes to 147? There is no one in the 140 division I especially care about seeing him fight.
It'd do you the world of good to read the post before yours. I'm guessing you saw the title, read the first post and posted a reply without reading anything else written.Originally Posted by LeftHookToTheBody

That will teach me to finish a thread before posting.Originally Posted by Gymbo
Good for Hatton. Sounds like a smart strategy. Floyd is a naturally smaller man anyway, despite having fought in higher weight classes.
Yep. my bad. Glad to see the rumors were untrue.Originally Posted by bzkfn
Hatton said he wanted Floyd next perhaps he did'nt think Floyd would come out of retirement for him now he said he would fight Hatton Hatton has shit himself and said he will only fight at 140lbs knowing Floyd won't do that so it gets Hatton off the hook.Hatton should'nt call him out if he does'nt really want to fight him just makes himself look daft calling him out then moving all the goal posts so the fight won't happen.
No worries. 9 pages...I wouldn't read every post either.Originally Posted by LeftHookToTheBody

3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
I think Hatton has somewhat deceptive speed and hands. I really can't understand when people compare him to Gatti; he is a much more talented fighter with better speed and quicker hands.Originally Posted by SweetPea
You are right about his jab, but I think what will give Floyd the most trouble is precisely what fans like the least about Hatton...his frequent use of clinches. While certainly frustrating to watch at times, it will allow Hatton to keep Floyd in front of him to get off his body shots and uppercuts. Clinches aso have a way of wearing a man down. Another thing is that Floyd has a habit of retreating to the ropes when pressured. If he does that against Hatton, Hatton does a much better job than a lot of fighters of shifting on his feet to find angles on a fighter, whereas guys like Castillo and De La Hoya would just stand in front of Maywaether when he'd go to the ropes, thus allowing Mayweather to shift away from the blows or block them with his gloves.
Don't get me wrong, I'd still pick a Mayweather win, but I believe he'll get a tough challenge if the fight happens.
If Hatton hit Mayweather with a body punch like the one he gave Castillo, Mayweather would be gone.
